For $10, who cares? Buy the set if you can find it.

I thought there were only 3 in Raleigh, are you counting the Cary one as well?

I'm going to Raleigh on Saturday, so if you see anything new, please post and leave at least 1 copy for me.

Wow awesome sets. I would love to have the IMAX set.

So far I have only found

West Wing S2
The OC S2
Night Court S1
Several Scooby sets
Dukes of Hazzard S6
Dukes of Hazzard S7

Sadly I need none of these.

I did see quite a few UFC DVDs for $3 each if anyone is looking for those.

Neither of the two Durham, NC locations had the $10 sets...neither did they have Roots, which is what I was really looking for. To my knowledge, none of the Big Lots in Durham or Raleigh (6 stores altogether) had the Roots 30th. A number of them had The Next Generations (lots of copies). Very frustrating.

I just got back from the Derby, CT location. They did add some additional craptacular titles to the $3 bin. Alas, no new sets to be found.

Eldersburg, MD location has nothing new (althrough they did do a good organizing job on the wire rack)

going to the Westminster location tonight

These are some of the $3 titles I picked up today in North Durham: Jamboree (50's rock n roll); The Big Street (Lucille Ball); Forever Darling (Lucy & Desi); The Hand (Michael Caine and Oliver Stone); Pennies from Heaven (Steve Martin); Jeremiah Johnson (Robert Redford); Kitty Foyle (Ginger Rogers; won Oscar for this); Arabian Nights (w/Sabu - glad I didn't bite when Amazon had it for $4.99). --Peter

Damn. Normally I'd show more enthusiasm for all the $10 sets, but I know there's not a chance in hell they'll ever show up here.

Anyway, I did manage to pick up the Blade series set yesterday. Those TV sets are selling like hotcakes! Advertise and they will come ...unfortunately.

I just got back from Big Lots nothing new BUT there was a truck unloading in the back!
They still had 5 of those Laker sets and West Wing S2 a bunch of those...ya know I never did see some of those WB titles like Jeremiah Johnson I had to trade for Pennies and Right Stuff (thanks Jeff!)
Hopefully this Truck doesn't have these on it and instead the Kubrick box!

I'm wondering if there's a general day for all the stores to refresh their merch.

I don't think there is any general consensus... All is very hit and miss.

That said, I've been stopping on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for the last few weeks and finding new stock.

That just sounds too good of a deal. Why would they lower the box set prices to $3? I hope it's true.
I went earlier this morning and found nothing new at two Cleveland area stores.

Sterling had little today. ER sets for $6. Flinstones, Superman, Wacky Races, Everwood S1 for $3.

I found the $3 season sets in Newark, Ohio and Heath, Ohio.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I found the 3.00 sets also. I got Tales from the Crypt 1-5. There were lots of Hanna Barbera ones including the Flintstones. All were 3.00 per set. They even had some stuff that was 6.00 before marked at 3.00 now.

I went to the one in Clifton NJ and it was pretty dismal :( just boxsets of the OC, Dallas, Dukes of Hazzard which don't interest me at all. I picked up the shocker/people under the stairs double dvd though for $6 but the rest was just not so great. I wish I could find some of things people are listing here.

The Big Lots on Anderson Road/White Horse in Greenville, SC had nothing new that has been mentioned today as of 1:30 this afternoon. :(

Gonna check the one on Farrs Bridge/White Horse after work. I am not even going to attempt Woodruff Road - if you've been on this road you know what I mean. Even these cheap sets aren't worth that hassle especially during rush hour. :D

Had a bunch of serendipity with my purchases today.

Knew that I had 3 of the ER seasons at home, not sure which ones, but bought the 4 sets at Big Lots anyway. Come home to find no duplication.

Knew that I had a couple of the Superman sets, not sure which, bought the 3 sets available at Big Lots, come home to find no duplication and a now complete Superman collection.

Sound like those IMAX Ultimate Collection, America's Game The Superbowl Champions (40 disc set), Roots The Complete Collection and Stanley Kubrick Collection (WB Home Video Directors Series - the latest remaster) are "East-Coast Only".

Dam that all to hell were is the love for "West-Coast"?

I found a couple of Wonder Woman Completes and a smallville s7 BD at local stores. I'm REALLY hoping those HB Cartoon sets show up here, just in case I'm going to offer the extras above in teh exchange thread for someone who wants to pick those up for me!

I'm very upset at myself for not going yesterday like I was going to. I'll buy practically ANY box sets for $3 that I don't already own, unless I know I absolutely don't like the show. Not to mention cheap as hell gifts... I pray I can score some of those... Looks like I'll be hitting all 3 of the stores in my area tonight...

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Stopped by today after work & saw the Roots, Kubrick & Super Bowl $10 sets;
the $3.00 Hanna-Barbera sets for Flintstones 1, 2, 3 & 5 (all of the Season 1 sets were unwrapped for some reason), Space Ghost & Dino-Boy, Josie & the Pussycats, Pebbles & Bam-Bam, Top Cat, Huckleberry Hound 1, Wacky Races, & Dastardly and Muttley.
Also for $3.00 Popeye Vol.1, Adventures of Superman (everything but season 2), a couple seasons of Lois & Clark, a couple seasons of Tales From the Crypt, Superman: the Movie 4-disc edition and probably some other shows I'm forgetting.
They also had a couple of Looney Tunes sets, but they weren't the Golden Collections so I didn't pay much attention to them.

Still looking for Wonder Woman complete - if anyone wants to trade for any of these, I can stop by tomorrow after work and see if anything's left. They had from 2 - 10 copies of everything & I rarely see anyone in there buying dvds. Of course, now it will probably be cleaned out!

dugnarug 07-15-09 02:22 PM

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I also picked up some $3 sets today.

Tales from the Crypt Seasons 2-6
Lois and Clark Season 1-3
Mission Hill The Complete Series

Big Lots is going to make me go broke. They had a ton of the Dallas sets. A couple of Everwood but I knew I would never watch it. They also had a couple seasons of Tracy Takes On but season one was priced for $3 and season 2 was $6. That made me think they had priced the newer sets wrong but glad to see they are putting out these sets at $3.

Still wanting to pick up that Kubrick box set.
