Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I saw a big Avergers display. They had the Avengers cartoon volumes for 10.00 each. They had some Marvel movies on DVD for $5.00 each. They included Daredevil and Elektra with new covers, the X-men movies, and Marvel animated movies. The display also had Marvel movies on blu-ray for 14.96 each.

Found the Steelbook of The Propsition for 5 bucks. Out of 10 on the rack, there was only 1 Steelbook.

Yeah, I've seen it at Wal-Mart as Zack and Miri.

Wish I had other people's luck with horror movies at WM. There are definitely a few collections I would pick up. Then again, the last few I bought really blew:

Fangoria Presents Road Kill
Joy Ride 1/2
Rest Stop 1/2
Midnight Horror Collection: Road Trip to Hell

There seems to be a theme here.

Does anybody actually have the Lionsgate comedy set? I know it's a long shot, but I'm wondering if their All of Me print is widescreen, if anyone has any idea?

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

At my local Walmart they put up a new endcap full of TV series ranging from $5 to around $15.

Ones that I can remember.

Charles in Charge: Season 1 for $5
Growing Pains: Season 1 for $10
MacGyver: Season 1 for $15 I think.
Some Smallville seasons. $15 each
The O.C.: I think $15 each season
Stargate: SG1: Season 1: $15
Welcome Back Cotter? $?
And others that I can't recall.

They also had out a Mom's display from Paramount for $7.50. Some of which comes in that 100th Anniversary slip-covers.

I found Silent House (original Spanish version) and a Fantasy & Action 6 Movie pack with The Beastmaster (Marc Singer) in the $5.00 bin.

^Well... now I have to dig through that again... I'd gladly purchase that one just for The Beastmaster. The single review of this set on Amazon indicates good print quality but it's from Echo Bridge who tend to scrimp at times... Either way I think I could live with that for the price.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Im surprised this hasnt gotten any mention up til now...but Ive been staring for two weeks a fairly big display of Mills Creek 50 Movie 2 packs for I believe either 16.99 or 17.99 (its one or the other...sorry; Im writing this at almost 3am. Titles include 100 Greatest Horror Classics, 100 Greatest Sci Fi Classics, 100 Greatest Comedy Classics, 100 Greatest Mystery Classics, 100 Greatests Family Classics....and a few others. Basically, what you are looking at is a two pack of the 50 movie genre packs that were first in Target and then found a display in Walmart for like a month. I sorta wanted them then....I have been waiting to get the funds to get the Horror, Sci Fi and Comedy sets for the last two weeks. I mean, even mostly public domain, there has to be a few gems in there. Like the horror set has Nosforatu and the original silent Phantom of the Opera and the Comedy set has some Charlie Chaplin and Carey Grant (just recently saw Charade for the first time....that man has presense!).

Thanks for bringing these up. I saw them a few weeks ago and was kicking myself since I already got the Mystery Classics 50 pack for $10 last January. Even though most of the movies on these sets are crappy quality public domain flicks, there are a lot of gems and even the routine ones - like the 1940s Dick Tracy movies on the Mystery set - have a pulpy b-movie quality that make them enjoyable, at the very least. I may go back and get some of the others.

There is a separate thread about the 100 movie packs currently on sale at Walmart.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Anybody got a good list of the $5 Echo Bridge and Mill Creek multisets to be found? Ive decided to become addicted to these now. Yes, I know the quality must suck with the compression of up to 4 movies on one two layer disc. But it doesnt look bad on my 7 and 9 inch portable DVD players. I wanna see if I can get all the Puppetmasters and Chirldren's of the Corn that Echo Bridge has with their Miramax contract without having to get their own stand alone set....

Has anybody seen the Universal 100th Anniversary edition (DVD) for "Earthquake"?

I can't find it in store.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Since it's the same company and the same price and the same titles, I thought I'd throw out here that at Sam's Club, they have the same $5.00 movies as Wal-mart. Except they are a whole lot easier to go through. At my store, it was on an end cap and they were in a box type thing with levels. The movies were all nicely organized. About 10-15 titles.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

^The Sam's Club here has a horrible selection of DVDs and recently downsized the section by shortening the entire row and putting video games on 1/4 of the row. The total shrinkage was about 1/3 - *all* DVDs with the most loss being TVonDVD selections. They kept the Blu-ray section the same size which is odd as I *never* see anyone look at Blu-rays - most look at the TVonDVD selections. Guess sales don't bear out my observations eh?

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Haven't been following this thread but was quite pleased to run across this today at Wal-Mart:

Was hoping for 2 flippers instead of 4 per side though.

How is the quality on Class of 1999 (just bought this and wondering if it is worth keeping my original).

Keeping my Waxworks double pack & Chopping Mall Special edition.

Will be nice to dump my Slaughter High VHS.

& The real reason I bought this pack: 967 Evil 2, C.H.U.D. II and Ghoulies Go to College (with The Unholy as bonus never heard of title).

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

My Walmart has a new endcap of various tv seasons. There are a few good deals:

ER: The Final Season - $10
Without a Trace S2 - $10
Robot Chicken S1 - $9.96
Fringe S2 - $15

I thought the quality of CO99 was pretty decent DVD quality even for being jammed on the disc. I've never seen the stand alone but it wasn't bad.

I just found out this DVD set existed after randomly searching for 976 Evil 2 on eBay. I went to 4 Walmarts in the South Jersey area today searching for it but came up empty handed at each store.

The Wal-Mart in Torrance, CA has standalone cardboard WB displays up with new $3 DVD's. I didn't have a pen or phone with me, but the titles I recall seeing were:

17 Again
Clash of the Titans (1981)
Gods and Generals
Heartbreak Ridge
Heat
Jonah Hex
Justice League New Frontier (Animated title)
Just Cause
Pure Country 2
Suckerpunch

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I saw the display today and picked up:

Clash of the Titans (1981)
Heartbreak Ridge
Just Cause

I didn't see Murder by Numbers or the The Perfect Storm but there were plenty of copies of the other titles that have been listed. And I also saw Appaloosa.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Went to a different Walmart today and picked up:

Appaloosa
Inkheart
Murder by Numbers

Seems like the titles available varies a bit from store to store. Many of the titles I saw on Wednesday I did not see today.

The original Pure Country is also $3. Saw a few copes of it at a 3rd Walmart.
