Found this title today at the smaller of the 2 stores here but it was $14.96. Pass... I'll get it from Amazon and save a couple of $$.

Found the Tom Hanks Comedy 3 Pack for 5 bucks. I thought that was pretty good. Its a little bit more everywhere else and its obviously cheaper than buying them individually.

First time I've ever seen packaging like this. I wonder if this is a one-off, or something we might see more of. Has anyone encountered it before?

These were first brough out for Black Friday last year. In addition to those pictured, there were some cartoon disks (1 disk of She-Ra Princess of Power and 1 disk of Dick Tracy), a public domain Three Stooges disk, and a version of Jane Eyre with George C. Scott.

They are marked down to 50 cents at my local Wal-mart.

They came out around christmas and were marketed as dvd ornaments or something like that, meant to hang on the tree.

The 96¢ DVDs [flat plastic] were leftovers from Black Friday. The ones that were released for Christmas as 'ornaments' were sold for $5 and had a clear plastic shell that was formed to look somewhat like an older style ornament.

This is from the New Hope Commons WM in Durham, NC.

I've noticed WB has been repressing some of the newer Paramount catalog releases in the $5 bin (packaging is virtually the same save no proof-of-purchase tab): The Fighter, The Last Airbender, and Shutter Island.

Other newer titles like Your Highness, Unknown and Final Destination 5 are also in the $5 bin.

I know this is probably a big YMMV deal, but a store in my area(Mebane, NC) had a few different dvd tv sets on mark down last night. I was able to pick Generation Kill for $6. Also saw Deadwood S3 for $8 along with Camelot($8), Scrubs final season(?), Boardwalk Empire S2($12) and a couple of others.

They were located in a clearance dump bin along with a bunch of other movies, including a crap ton of Harry Potters for $8. They also had a bunch of PS3 & 360 video games in a separate bin marked between $10-20.

Last night I got all 3 of the Lord of the Rings DVDs for $3.96 each. They were in a cardboard display in the aisle in front of the DVD/CD/Electronics section in the Ke'eaumoku St (Honolulu) store. Possibly on sale in anticipation of The Hobbit being released soon, I guess.

Just like Target (and maybe Best Buy?), Wal-Mart now has their own display of ~$9.99 TV sets. (I saw comments about this in other threads, but for some reason, not here.) I recall seeing seasons of

The Addams Family
The Incredible Hulk
Growing Pains
The Brady Bunch
MacGyver
Rat Patrol
Three's Company
The Bob Newhart show

and at least that many additional series, whose names I didn't recall. Sadly, not much of it appealed to me.

I purchased Charmed-Season Two and Nikita Season Five(Peta Wilson) for $9.99. They were included with the Blue Ray Only Displays.

I found The Ren & Stimpy Show - Season Five and Some More of Four for $9.96 in the new TV on DVD display.

Echo Bridge prints their UPCs on the disc art and I've long-suspected that some sort of bare-bones release like this is in their future.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

My local Walmart has a new flat cardboard display with a bunch of multi-movie packs in it for $5--things like 15 Horror Films and 15 Hitchcock Classics, all of which are the usual PD eyesores. For some reason, there were a bunch of random titles from Classic Media also in the bin. I saw one of the Godzilla movies (I think it was Godzilla Raids Again), and I found one copy (and snagged said copy) of the four-disc Harveytoons: The Complete Collection. Four double-sided discs of cartoons with a total running time of over 18 hours for $5? I couldn't pass that up, even with all the complaints that people had with the set.

On a blind buy, I bought Brooklyn Rules and Children of the Night for .96 cents each at my local WM - and they both turned out to be pretty good movies!

I think those are the same two I picked up a few months ago. Haven't gotten around to watching them, but I'm glad to hear your positive review.

Lot of new stuff in the $5 bin. Mostly of the multi-movie variety.

I saw a 9 Film Collection (Demonic Toys 1 & 2, Dollman vs Demonic Toys, The Gingerdeadman 1, 2 ,3 , Killjoy 1, 2, 3)

Also saw many best of TV titles including Flipper Best of season 2 (the 90s version with Jessica Alba), Best of Route 66, Best of In the heat of the Night.

There was also the previously mentioned Harveytoons set.
