Texan, Is the Slaughter High 4 pack set single sided discs or are they double sided?

They're finishing the remodeling of my local store, so we checked it out yesterday. Found Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Complete Fourth Season and Star Trek: Voyager - The Complete Second Season for $40 ($39.and change) apiece. They also had the first season of Voyager for $19.96. I considered TNG (especially since I only have the first three seasons so far), but passed for the time being. They also had Burn Notice - Season One for $13, in a standard clear case instead of the version I have, which is two slim cases in a slipcover.

My wife did, however, pick out Final Destination 3 (2-disc), Harry and the Hendersons and Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay for $5.00 apiece.

At local WM I picked up:
Jetsons: The Movie $5
The 12-episode 1941 serial The Adventures of Captain Marvel $7.50

Left for my next visit:
Monty Python's The Meaning of Life $5
Jaws 3 $5

IMHO $39.95 + tax is *not* a good price/bargain for *any* season of *any* Trek series. Both "Voyager" and "TNG" are currently $36.95/season at amazon and are fairly regularly at this or a lower price (and typically the others too). I picked up a copy of S3 of "Voyager" at WM for $29.95 a few months ago and felt that was a fair price but certainly not a true bargain like $19.95 for S1. Of course, that season is very short (15 eps.) and really should not sell for much over $19.95. But then it's a "Trek" title from Paramount which seems to equate to a license to gouge liberally.

Mine is in the middle of a remodel and they just recently moved and updated the electronics section. It's now in the back and I went with anticipation that they increased the DVD selection. They did, but so slightly. The TV on DVD selection is just lacking and pitiful compared to Target or Meijer. They have a larger Spanish selection then they do for the TV on DVD selection.

Plus I was hoping to see some of these deals on TV titles that others posted recently but not one was to be seen. So for TV titles it looks like I'll stick with Target which is across town from the Walmart.

The only hope is that since they are still remodeling that they may expand the store size some and increase the size of the electronics section and thus the DVD section, but I'm not going to get my hopes up to much.

Meh. I don't consider $3.00 enough of a difference to complain about Walmart's in-store price vs. Amazon's online price. It might qualify for free shipping, but I still have to wait vs. having it in hand--and being able to tell whether there are any floating discs. My last TNG season set from Amazon came with a busted hub. I had to choose between sending it back and hoping for a replacement in better condition or just keeping it. I just kept it, and it's bugged me ever since.

Good luck with that. Our store's electronics department seems to be finished, and you could run with the bulls between the aisles there and not brush against a single bit of merchandise. The amount of shelf space for media isn't noticeably improved, though I give them credit for bringing in new stock of titles I hadn't seen there in quite a while.

In other news, I was there today. I didn't find anything I really wanted, except a Kenny Chesney CD single (I know! I thought they were extinct, too!) and I treated myself to an iTunes gift card. Anyway, while I was checking out, I saw a stack of Alice in Wonderland lenticular cards and I asked the cashier how I'd go about getting one. She asked the department supervisor, who waved her off and said to just take one. YMMV, of course, but for collectors of such things, you might want to poke your head in and see if you can score one.

I was able to get the 30th Anniversary Edition of Close Encounters of the Third Kind DVD for $9.00 yestersay.

They also had up a huge display of 'Starting at $7.50' section with mostly Fox titles. Way too many to remember but I can recall that Predator:SE was in there.

On the other side was 'Titles starting at $15'. I can remember that The Golden Girls series was in there along with several 4 and 5 movie packs from Universal as well. Also in the same display was some Blu-Ray titles.

I would estimate that the display was about 20 to 30 feet wide. And possible well over 200 titles total.

Saw a few new $5 titles at one of my local Wal-Mart stores. Strange part is, I noticed many, if not all of them have no manufacturer stickers on the sides of the case, as well as no Wal-Mart sticker on the shrink-wrap - is there an explanation for this? I was cautious about picking any up with thoughts they could be ex-rentals or something.

Did get these though;
- Road Trip (VERY strange that they also had this in the $7.50 section!)
- Jaws 2
- Goosebumps: The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight

The discs and cases without stickers are in pristine condition, so I'm believing they are brand new.

My local Walmart had a back endcap wire rack with $2 DVDs, about 20 different, some already down to their last copy and some with around 20 copies. I picked up:

War of the Worlds (1950's)
Lady Sings the Blues
Dreamer
Staying Alive

This will have a limited appeal, but here goes:

I got the Detroit Red Wings 2007-2008 Stanley Cup DVD set with all 6 games of the Finals on 4 disc for $9.96. 700 minutes of hockey for $10! Best Buy has it for $35.
