Reviews here are mediocre. RT score is 49%.

I would say definitely not a good blind buy. I'm very forgiving, and thought it was a rental at best. Decent story, but direction and acting were awful. I'd get it on Redbox for $1 (or free) before I spent $ on it.

Wow! what an impressive listing of all the different editions! I personally would get the target edition for SD (DVD), but I wasn't looking for HD (bluray). That one looks like it has more interesting stuff. All Borders has is red carpet interviews which is all the same boring schmaltz.

It's kind of crazy, all these "exclusives"! Don't you think it's getting out of hand?! I guess they have to do something with dvd sales going down.

Anyway, about the movie. If you don't know much about the movie or the books, don't write it off based upon simple knowledge that it's just a vampire love story. I've seen the movie and really liked it, but not really for the romance. The romance and this movie is really in my mind a setup for the rest of the movie series to come. My wife is reading the books and I believe is on book 3 (out of 4) and told me all about book 2, which sets up a love triangle between the girl, the vampire, and (I don't think I'm giving too much away here) a werewolf! Pretty wild if you're a geek like me!

Now, with the underworld movie that just came out, I haven't seen any of them, but I had no clue about and wonder if the element of vampires are enemies of werewolves and vice versa exists in classic literature or not, but it is fascinating and new to me. Anyone know where this idea comes from?
