I tried two nearest stores, one has the $14.99 tag on the empty shelf, the other is well stocked but JA scanned in at $39.99.

I picked up the last one at a Target near here today. Scanned it at the auto-scanner thing and it showed $39.99, but the tag was still up. Took it over to the guy in electronics and he rang it up for $39.99. I told him it was on temporary price drop and the tag said $14.99, so he went over there and looked at it, and then overrode it with no problems.

I think this deal is dead.
My store had the shelf tag changed to $39.99; the BoB one was unchanged.

I hit a Target at lunch yesterday in Columbus, OH and Adams was posted 14.99 with the temporary price drop. Set rang up at $39.99 checking out. A manager was brought in who proceeded to argue with me. Finally she had an employee verify the $14.99 temporary price drop sale tag. She gave me the $14.99 price very reluctantly. Great deal but looks to be on it's last leg.

I was at Target this morning shopping with my mom and we saw one copy left along with Band of Brothers and ended up picking them both up. Both rang up full price but the woman in the front knew that they were both price cuts because her husband picked both of them as presents for his dad. She changed the price with no problem and had someone check the date of when the sale ends and it's not til March for Adams and I think she said middle of this month for Brothers.

My local Target had a 39.99 temporary price cut tag for John Adams today. Earlier in the week they had the 14.99 tag up. Neither time did they have any copies on the shelf. So, I'm thinking my chances are between slim and none that I'm going to be able to get this for 14.99.

There is no different version, some Electronics clerk just made up an excuse. Wanted to press the issue, but I just figured if it's on sale now, it will be again somewhere else, and Target has lost my business.
Part of me wanted to wait for Blu-Ray anyway.

Re: JOHN ADAMS - HBO Mini Series $14.99 @ Target (reg. 49.99)
It kind of makes sense that the $14.99 price for John Adams is a mistake.
I think this dvd has only been out for about 6 or 7 months and to have a 75% temporary price cut from a $59.99 MSRP doesn't sound right.
On the other hand, Band of Brothers has been out for over 5 years, so the temporary price cut of $19.99 sounds more reasonable.
If possible, grab John Adams if you still can at $14.99.

Re: JOHN ADAMS - HBO Mini Series $14.99 @ Target (reg. 49.99)
They did have one copy left of John Adams (with the $14.99 price tag) that rang up for $39.99 (like everyone else). I had to go through customer service to buy it, but managed to get it for the sale price. Customer service did confirm however that $14.99 is the price they are giving people who return the movie without a receipt...
Like other people, I have a feeling that this deal is going to die soon...
Thanks again OP for the heads up!

Just came back from my local Parma OH store. The John Adams temporary price reduction tag is gone and the Band of Brothers tag now says $49.99. Wish I had nabbed that one the other day when I had the chance. Oh well. The deal looks dead now. At least got John Adams yesterday.

and John Adams lived to be age 90 with those rotten and bad teeth! makes you think as I know people who die in there early 50`s with nice white teeth.

Not breaking new ground here, but Chesterfield MO, Target (Boone's Crossing) was out of JA but it was tagged as $39.99 and BOB was tagged $49.99 both saying it was a temporary price cut.
As far as price goes without a receipt when returning, I didn't think Target took anything back without a receipt.

I went to two targets this weekend. The first had the $14.99 tag but no DVD's. The second had 1 set left but no tag. It scanned at $39.99.

If I was working CS at Best Buy, I would have called the Target up and verified the price and asked if they had it in stock.
To me, if you are walking around with the shelf card, I would have asked you, "why not just buy it there?"

Seems to me if you feel the need to ask that question, you oughta just ask it in general, barring someone walking in with an ad. Of course, my response there would often be, "to get reward zone points" anyway, which is pretty normal (and has often motivated me when I'm feeling too lazy to go out to X store, and the deal is still going--and I've actually done things like pictures of shelf cards etc)

Thanks FangsFirst!
Yes you are right - I had a bunch of RZ certificates and I just felt than running around looking for the JA DVD that BB should have my business.
In and out in less than 5 minutes without a call to Target - plus it was the CS Manager who checked me out too!
BB Store #323 Chicago rocks!!!
Thanks again OP for this deal and FangsFirst for the words.

Re: JOHN ADAMS - HBO Mini Series $14.99 @ Target (reg. 49.99)
That's why I brought the entire shelf in from Target to Bestbuy. It was a little tricky fitting the shelf into my car, but it paid off as I got the price match. I think BB was impressed with my 'effort', I mean how often do you see someone go to such great lengths for a price match? Good thing it paid off since apparently I am now 'banned for life' from Targets for this act of so called 'vandelism.'
Alright that's neither true, nor that funny, but it was the first thing that popped in my head when I read about bringing in the shelf tags, and it was certainly funny in my head. Then again, maybe I'm a little biased, I probably also think I'm better looking than I am and should stop wondering why my face isn't used to sell picture frames at my local Kohl's.
I apologize for going off topic, this really isn't a bargain, other than you are getting the wit and wisdom of LOSTFAN at no cover charge, that could be a bargain I suppose.
