Totally in for this. Not a huge difference, but glad I didn't buy it when it was $90. I never watched this show when it aired, so this will be totally new to me from start to finish. Looking forward to it.

wow. Got it at Best Buy and don't regret it. i did get that cool bonus cd i'll pretend thats worth $10 and move on. Great series, can't recommend it enough.

I'm thinking that you're right, but I'm sure I can resell it and get my money back after watching it all the way through (total was $59 after $25 GC - can definitely get $60 for it used!).

At that price, I'm willing to forgo trying to Netflix them all. In for one.

Seriously, I'm surprised at this comment. IMO (and the opinion of a lot of the show's fans), the show almost requires a 2nd viewing - upon rewatching you'll see things in early seasons that didn't play out until a seaon or two later.

Whoa! You're not kidding! Glad I read your post (and then the reviews), since I was 100% ready to pull the trigger beforehand. Since I already had a bad experience with one of the season discs that was packaged normally, I think I will steer clear from this for now in the hopes they may revamp the packaging at some point. (Yeah, I know, wishful thinking...)

what would be an example of a show that you consider re-watchable?

i've watched The Wire four times all the way through and will again several more times

once you know certain things... i.e. how the Stringer Bell storyline resolves, it gives repeated viewings even more power than before.

also the way each season ties into the others makes you REALLY appreciate things in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd that you could never have known the first time through

Thankfully when I got mine from Best Buy I traded in an unwanted gift I received and wound up getting the thing for $71.xx, plus I ended up acquiring the Best Buy bonus soundtrack for free.

Still hoping we'll maybe get Sex and the City tomorrow, but it's looking doubtful.

It isn't? That's strange, I've watched it all the way thorough at least 3 times, and could easily see watching again some time this year. It's a great example of a show that demands repeat viewings; you pick up more things each time you see it.

This would be a total blind buy for me, and the price is right

but, Has anyone got this set withoug a bunch of scratched discs? A DVD Talk reviewer and a bunch of people on Amazon complained that the packaging sucked and it was almost impossible to not get scratched discs.

Also, is there an exclusive bonus disc with this set.

I ordered this when it was $90 and none of my discs are scratched. It isn't the best packaging in the world but with some retailers still asking over $40 for just the first season, I'd say pull the trigger and keep the receipt (just in case).
