Fry's has them from time to time. Lately, I've seen many $22.99 BRs going on sale for $11.99 there. I picked up around 6 yesterday, but decided to only buy 3. They're all replacing DVDs, so I figure the other 3 can wait until they're ~$7-8 each.

i have around 150+ bd's.waiting for used and sales is the way to go.but you have to be patient enough to wait and never pre order.my pricing is this:10-15 for catalog titles and 14-20 for new releases.if you try to wait for every title to hit 10 bucks you'll be waiting a really really long time.aside from amazon black friday the bd sales have sucked this holiday season.

yeah price matching the Fry's ad is a great way to build up your collection.just take the ad to best buy and have them pm it.

Well, it was available last week at Best Buy for $15, so that would have been worth the wait, IMO. And it had a $10 rebate at Best Buy on release day, so that would have been a good way to buy it if you just couldn't wait.

I've bought a few for over $20, and they always end up going on sale before I watch the damn things.

From now on, I'm waiting until everything is around the $12 range.

My average is way under $10 per disc. But, I only buy on sales and deals. I don't price match, either, that's too much work. It has to be online order and it shows up, perhaps with cashback, or retail and walk-up and buy, perhaps with a coupon. I count rebates.

I don't figure in gifts to my average, but they allow me to get expensive titles that are hard to find for cheap.

This average will not last for me... as it's been creeping up. Most of my nearly 100 BR titles were purchases during the format war. I have maybe 20-25 discs since. 5 or so are gifts (Wall-E, LA Confidential, for instance). The best ongoing deals for me remain Fry's $11.99-13.99 deals. Walk-in and load up. But at those prices, it's hard to keep a <$10 average.

I rent new BR releases, mostly. I buy them on 6-8 weeks later when they go on sale if they are must haves, or I wait however long (6 months, 9 months, a year or more) for them to drop $10-12. Happens.

For those 3, I think it's a decent deal. They seem to be on sale for around the $17.99 mark regularly so you would be saving a bit.

I think beeb's tiers are a pretty fair indication of pricing given the common sales found at retail and online stores. I also think those that say they have a under $10 average probably aren't buying a lot of new releases to make that claim having watching the bargains in the last year or so.

My average per Blu-ray is around $13.75. I did the math on this one and added up all of my Blu-ray purchases. This does include some sets though (like Lost Season 3 and 4). I own many new releases.

I'm quite amazed by the fact that my average is so low. But less than $10 for new release Blu-ray's is pretty rare... there are only a select few I have gotten for below $10 and most were $12-16 each.

He was giving an example. Not every title is going to have a $10 rebate at time of release (although it would be great if they did!) and I think we can all agree that most titles can be had cheaper several months later. It's simply a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenerio. If you can't wait for a title then you'll probably be paying a premium. On the other hand, there have been titles (maybe not on br. . .yet) that have quickly vanished off of store shelves and jumped up in value.

i got Cars for 19.99 at target and i think thats a good price considering the fact that disney has pumped out probably the best blu-rays then any other studio not just the animated ones either ...

also if you look at the Best Buy website check out the "featured offers" or simply search movie/blu-ray and search by "lowest price to highest.." they have a few good titles for 12.99 ... Crank is one ill be picking up tomorrow

IMO check out a few reviews before you buy the BD edition of anything ... or if you see a deal on a good amount of BD check the review for all of them ... sometimes no difference can be found in a BD or SD

Like others said, I think it depends on the movie. You're not gonna find The Dark Knight for $10 anytime soon. It's worth the $23.99 or so to buy it on Blu-ray now.

I fear that those with these super-low per BD averages are buying super-cruddy movies....in my opinion.

I have about 20 BD's and the lowest I've paid is $14.99 at the Wal-mart black friday sale for Iron Man and Indy 4.

Fry's usually has a decent selection of titles on sale every Friday, and they do change the titles. They often have Sony catalog titles selling for $8.99 like Munchausen and Dracula. I picked up Mummy 1 and 2 for $8.99 each. If they don't have $8.99 sales, they almost always have something that's $11-13.99.

Depends on your perspective. I personally dont have blue ray yet. My thinking is, that I wouldnt pay $16 for a dvd, why would I pay that for a blue Ray?

I just paid 17.99 for Underworld Evolution. I didn't want to pay that much, but I want to see it again before I see the new Underworld movie, and I'd rather watch it on BD than SD. So sometimes you just gotta pony up and pay more for a title (depending on how much more, of course). A few extra bucks isn't that bad...

No way. You just have to be patient and wait for the right deals. I have also bought some used for like $5 as well that have been in good condition.

The Amazon deal with the Bonds turned out to be like $6 a movie.

I got TDK [Blu-ray] for $8.99 from Columbia House during a B1G2F sale. But, you're right about the usual price so I promptly sold it for a $10 profit. Now, I'll be the first to admit that Die Another Day is a "super-cruddy" movie, so I sold that one at a decent profit, as I did some of the others. Some of the BDs, will be "watch and sells" because they aren't anything I would want to own. Even if I just break even selling them used, it is cheaper than a rental. Are all of them "super-cruddy"? Not in my opinion. Perhaps you disagree.

Just because the lowest price you could find for a BD you wanted was $14.99 doesn't mean that those of us who are serious, patient, bargain hunters can't do a LOT better. Someday I'll get Iron Man for less than $10. Just a matter of time. Meanwhile, I'll probably Netflix it since I've never seen it.

I think counting used Blu-ray purchases is a little different though. Other then that and Columbia House, there really aren't that many ways to get recent releases at less then around $15.

^So what? As I've said before, I never understood the "gotta have it NOW!" mentality. Why not wait until it the new releases become cheaper? Eventually they will become catalog titles at a decent price. Or one will find that unusual sale and be able to jump on it.

I just get irritated by the attitude of those who think that because they can't impulse-buy a title at their local B&M retailer inexpensively, those of us who do manage to buy our BDs for very little are buying "super-cruddy" titles. I find that attitude arrogant ("if I don't see it, it doesn't exist") and inaccurate.
