Does anyone know what the best price for Jin-Roh on Blu-ray is? And would Right Stuf still be able to sell it even though it says 'On Order From Manufacturer' on it's page? I mean, I would wait for a Bandai sale and see if it was included in whatever percentage off they have... but I'm worried it's not even available there anymore.
If anyone has it and is willing to part with it I'd be willing to spend $60 shipped for it.

The best price that I can see is from dot-anime.us. They have it for $63.99 and it's currently in-stock. However they do charge S/H (it's based on weight and your location).

Not very many retailers stock this release. TRSI list this under as a Honneamise label product. Therefore it won't qualify during a regular BEI studio sale.

I looked around and noticed that Anime Nation also has it... with shipping and the 10% off code applied (double thanks!) it would be $68. With Dot-Anime.Us it would cost me $76. Do you think there is a good chance that Anime Nation still does have Jin-Roh in stock? They don't have a counter like the other site does.
I'm also curious as to if you have this particular BD. If you do, I'm wondering what you think of the quality. The reviews seem pretty positive but you seem like a good person to ask. The movie is one of my favorite anime films, that I already know, but I'm wondering if the jump to Blu-ray would really be worth it. My instinct tells me yes but my wallet is trying to tell me no.

I only saw anime on Blu-Ray once - Freedom series. The picture looks much cleaner than regular DVD. I wonder if Jin-Roh would be same as Freedom...

hi everybody! For once, I actually have a question that needs answering!
So, awhile back, I purchased Moribito vol. 1+2 +artbox from TRSI. I haven't opened it yet, but according to the website, it says 'episodes 1-7'.
Now fast forward to today.
I've worked for Walmart for a very long time, and when I see anime being sold in my department, i'm usually very happy! So lo and behold when I arrive today I see that we got Moribito as a new release for only $19.96!
This is where I get confused: Disc package clearly states that it is a 6-disc set. But there's only 10 episodes! Is there only 2 episodes per disc and then a bonus disc of extras? Why waste DVD production costs for so few episodes per disc and then charge so little? The extras on the box were of nothing spectacular; clean OP and ED, trailers, etc.
I would direct you to the website, but it is OOS and has no info on the product except the release date. I've tried checking AoD with no help. If you guys have any info to what that's SO cheap (even for anime and Walmart), please let me know!
Either way, this is a FANTASTIC series that I highly recommend to everyone and you really can't beat the price!
Thanks for your time!

I would treat it as a Walmart exclusive, which is rarely done for anime. The pics taken by someone @ AoD should answer your question. In short, it's basically a 6-disc release that covers 10 episodes (2 eps. per DVD). It's kind of wasteful and R2J-like. And $19.96 is not a bad price for the first 10 episodes. It's too bad the video quality isn't as good as you would expect...

So, is the video quality the same or better/worse for the standard single disc releases?

There were video quality issues with the bundle releases. Considering that this series had HD sources, the DVD video quality could be better. I don't if it will be the same or not for this Walmart release. It can be one of those things that may affect some, but not others (YMMV depending on your setup).

FYI: Those with Blu-Ray might want to hold off on purchasing Funi's newer releases as they're jumping big into the format this year. I suspect titles like Darker than Black and Claymore (already released on Blu overseas) could be released here before the year's end. Afro-Samurai Pt 2 and Samurai 7 is coming out next month (provided they don't push it back again).

Afro Samurai: Resurrection
Samurai 7
Shigurui: Death Frenzy
Possibly coming soon...
Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE Season 1
CLAMP Double Feature (Tsubasa / xxxHOLiC)
Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa
There is definitely more Blu-ray releases coming from FUNimation. Darker than BLACK has some possibilities. FUNimation has released a HD trailer for it (I believe it was in Vexille Blu-ray release). Regardless I don't think Claymore and Darker than BLACK will be released in Blu-ray this year. The singles need to be finished releasing and then there is the DVD boxset release. Anything is possible, but I don't see this happening this fast.

Has anyone heard anything about a FLCL re-release?
I don't like buying the questionable imports. But there's no way I'm paying the outrageous prices these OOP discs are fetching. If a re-release is hopeful, I'll hold out.

Amazon.com is having a buy 1 get 1 free on some of their dvds right now. Blood+ Part One box set($83.99) as well as the singles (vol 1 and 2 $16.99 each) are on the list. If you can find a friend to split the cost with you like I did, it becomes a really good deal. If not, $8.50 for the single release isn't too bad either.
