Are you serious? I have two of each sitting at my BB for in-store pick-up, and I wasn't sure I was going to get them...but at that price...I'm in.

That's hilarious. You can get the full-size statues these mini ones were based off of for close to $100 (or under for the Batman one)...

PS--I was able to get the FutureShop BLU-RAY of THE DARK KNIGHT on eBay for $37.51. I just had to have the Steelbook version and capped how much I would spend @ $40!

so you get laid off from work and decide to go out and blow a bunch of money on some toys. Then you plan on making money your holiday income by selling these toys on ebay. You must be jacking the price up quite a bit

lol i'm totally f****** with you:toast: do what you gotta do. sorry to hear you have been laid off. hope you find another job soon!

The third disc is the documentary "Batman Unmasked" listed at a 40 minute runtime according to the packaging.

I finally opened mine ... I actually really like the "mask" case since it isn't completely hard plastic. I agree with previous posters though, the outside box being cardboard is a bit of a let down.

The third disc is a bit awkward though -- since all the discs do have bonus material. With the Incredible Hulk it was easy -- the digital copy went into the sleeve. Any suggestions for TDK?

I grabbed 2: 1 for me and I figure I can give one as a gift, and the price in store was only 22.99.

Then I saw a a single Iron Man steelbook right beneath it, so I grabbed that too even though I think it was 25.99. I know on amazon private sellers have it going for about 40 bucks, but on fye's site it's still listed as in stock so I'm not sure why. Doesn't matter cause I just want it for myself anyway though. When I got home I cancelled my pre-order for the Dark Knight of course.

Dang, you only were charged 22.99 at FYE? The bastards at my local FYE charged me 26.99!!! Well, there's a special place in hell for people like that. Karma!

As long as you're happy with your purchase. But that's quite costly for a small, cheap-looking figurine.
For that much you could buy the 30-inch-tall Batman action figure, which is on sale at Toys R Us.
I wasn't even going to spend $9.99 on those little figurines. Just goes to show that stores can name cheap, flimsy things limited-edition exclusives and people will buy them up, quality be damned.

People are just crazy and lose all common sense when it comes to limited-edition exclusives.
I saw those figurines, and they looked cheap. To me, they weren't even worth $9.99.
For 40 bucks, you can get good-looking, quality Batman action figures at any number of toy stores.
For 75 to 100, you can get high quality busts or statuettes.
I sense if those exclusives were made of cardboard, people would still buy them.

so this 3rd disc is in the SD Batman mask? and that is the only SD version they have for it or is their a normal SD keepcase with 3 discs as well? thanks for info.

The point is it is Bestbuy exclusive. Collectors will see this as a value to add to their collection.

Actually, the full size one is about $150.00. Secondly, I wouldn't have room for it anyway. Besides, the mini has a surprising amount of detail for its size (5"). And eventhough I opened it, I'm pretty sure I could get my $40 back if I ever decided to sell it on E-bay.

Yeah they didn't look that great. Quite disappointing as I was all set to buy one but then the quality and decided not to. There are other figurines with much better detail for cheaper. Particularly these little figurines from the comic shop from little giant co.

It's actually quite difficult to find decent looking figures for less then $50.

tonyc3742 12-15-08 08:23 PM

Single disk from BJ's. They had it on sale, and some kind soul had actually torn out the 6.00 off coupon and left it on the rack. 10.xx after taxes. I don't need to spend money on any more little toys, and upon viewing the special features of the multidisk, a large part of the upgraded cost seemed to be covering the digital copy, which is a total waste to me. I usually love special features, but these didn't really stand out to me, especially for the major upgrade in cost.

There is however a coupon where if you bought The Dark Knight on DVD or Blue-ray
- you get a free case of Berkley & Jensen Simply H20 Water FREE - $4.49 value.
Available from 12/11/08 to 12/24/08.

So you could have probably waited a day or so and got some free bottle water :)
(If its worth it, you could always return the DVD if its not open and rebuy and use
the coupon to get some free bottle water - as long as you do it before the
$25.99-$4.00 deal ends on Sunday. Thats if you get the coupon by then.)

Looks like those DVD/Blue-ray coupons were either in the Holiday Gift Guide
Catalog or some separate mailing that not everyone was privlege to get.
Oh well, I'll be heading to BJ's tom to see if they have an extra one of those
HGGC's and see if the $6 off coupon is in there - otherwise its free water!
(I couldn't make it to BJ's last night as previously said I would)

(Two other DVD coupons are included in the December 2008 Coupon Book -
Coupon #1 - $20 off when you buy Lost Season Four and any other season of
Lost on DVD or Blue-ray. Coupon #2 - Free Berkley & Jensens Cupcakes when
you buy Horton Hears a WHO! on DVD or Blue-ray. LOL!)

LB...

That's is obviously the wrong coupon book. I got this one in the mail today too. The one they had the $6 off in it was called something like "media and electronic" book. It was way bigger than the December 2008 book that I got today.

The mask itself only houses 2 discs ... the 3rd disc is in a sleeve (with the picture of Batman standing in front of the building with the Bat-logo burning). I believe this is the only way they carry it -- I didn't notice any "2-disc" versions in keepcases.

I can understand spending $9.99 for it, but not any more than that.
I think some people bought more than one of each just to sell to suckers online at crazy prices, such as the 75 to 100 buck range I've been hearing about.
And, again, primarily because it's a limited exclusive.

I hadn't been to Best Buy since before The Dark Knight was released, and so I finally saw the "special" mask editions and the "special" Batpod editions. The masks didn't look bad, but nor did they look good enough to spend more than 10 bucks more over the normal price of the two-disc version.
As for the Batpods, they looked irredeemably cheap, and also very small.
I'm glad I went to Wal-Mart at midnight to get Dark Knight. As far as I've seen, the Wal-Mart Two-Face coin that came with the single-disc version is the best exclusive. It's actually made of metal.
Forgot to mention, the FYE steelbook was also pretty good as an exclusive, although it's too bad they didn't use a different cover image.

My Other Self 12-16-08 04:55 AM

Wait, so those cheap Bats figures from BB are WORTH something? The one BB I go to have a crapload of Bats left (no Jokers). I just saw some tonight. I guess I gotta go back tomorrow.

No, the full size one is not $150.00. That was it's MSRP and you may have had to pay that when they originally came out, but they were produced in such high quantities that they can easily be had for much less. Heck, I didn't pay $150.00 for the Batman one when it came out. The Joker one has been routinely selling for under $100 (recently, $76). Nobody is spending $150 for these.

Plus, looking through those listings, it seems like the high priced ones are outliers since two of the Batman mini statues recently went for around $20, which makes more sense.

Duh Vuh Duh 12-18-08 09:57 AM

Picked up the target blu-ray mask with the papa john's coupon, don't have a blu-ray player yet, but I really wanted the mask and I figured might as well start the collection with this movie. Also, picked up the fye steelbook with the coupon also, so $16.99 with the rebate and coupon, not too bad.

2sday 12-18-08 01:55 PM

damn, i saw like ten of each figure at best buy during the midnight release, but i thought they were barely worth 5 bucks, let alone 10 for those small things. they looked cool, and im a sucker for everything exclusive too. but i figured theyd be mass produced and down to a penny in a month. what i should have done was buy some, then return them if they werent rare. wasnt thinking.

Which BB has tons of those figures? I want to buy one, doesn't matter batman or joker.

Thanks for the reply - mentioning what kind of book the $6 off coupon
appeared in. Definiately didn't get that one in the mail. Now that I know
which one its in, I'll see if my BJ's has any extras laying around at
Customer Service when I go by there sometime this weekend. Anyone
willing to send me one via mail? Whens does it expire? (Well even if I
don't get the $6 off coupon, I'll just get use that free bottle water
coupon one.)

However getting the $6 off coupon or using the free bottle water one
may not matter as when I went last weekend my BJ's had no Dark Knight
DVDs at all - one disc, two disc, full, wide. When I asked at Customer
Service if they were going to get more in, they mentioned they weren't
sure as they rarely have a DVD sellout like that and if they do, it may
just be the one disc DVD anyway. I wounded up getting rainchecks for
both the one disc (at $14.99 = $18.99 orginial cost - $4.00 instant rebate)
and two disc (at $20.99 = 24.99 orginial cost - $4.00 instant rebate)
so I'm covered if they should get some in. Of course knowing my luck, they
won't come in until after the coupons expire and I won't be able to take
advantage of the additional savings. Oh well!

Hi everyone,

has anyone opened up the Best Buy Batman cowl edition. I took the mini cowl out from the packaging last night and where it was held in place by the plastic tie it has left a nasty mark all round the neck of the model. Has anyone else had the same problem, if they have taken their cowl out of the box???

Thanks in advance

Sorry, but I don't remember the expiration date on the coupon.
