Went to Best Buy. It was listed as an "expanded" event, but the only thing expanded was the line into the store. All I got was a Joker card. The employees had all the t-shirts and buttons.

They did have a cool Batman logo shining on the building.

I also got a picture of the 2-disc SE Soundtrack. The packaging is very nice and heavy.

Hopefully your stores were better than mine.

thanks for the info on the midnight release!

i saw some employees wearing those shirts the other day... i figured those would be the ones they gave out. the buttons are pretty cool. but with this info in mind, i'll probably pass on the midnight release.

the batlogo shining on the store looks pretty awesome!

After researching and deciding none of the packaging variants appealed to me, I elected to buy at Wal-Mart because their list price of $20.86 was the lowest I'd found. I go up right at midnight and the stars aligned tonight because they actually already had the display out and about seven people were in the process of grabbing theirs when I got to it. I get up to the cash register, fifth in line and everyone in front of me is buying it--including an elderly couple buying two full screen copies. He gets to me, scans it, I swipe my Paypal card and that's when the woman behind me points out that it's five dollars less online.

Sure enough, $24.96 is staring me in the face. I had started to put in the wrong PIN anyway, so I started clearing it and I thought back to Target having it for $20.99. I asked if they would price match that, and the cashier said he could if I had a print ad with me. I responded that, of course I didn't anticipate needing one, but they kept them in electronics; could he call back there? He says to me that he doesn't have the number for electronics, only managers do. The woman behind me--who is buying no less than six copies, plus two copies of "Batman Begins"--volunteers to run back to electronics and check for herself. She re-emerges five minutes later with the Circuit City ad, but their 2-disc price is no better.

In the interim, the cashier manages to do something unthinkable. Claiming he's clearing the transaction, per my request, so we could sort this out and he can get on with checking out the now fifteen people in line behind me, he manages to send my transaction through WITH NO PIN! How he did this is beyond me, because I thought they couldn't go through without a PIN. Now the CSM has come up, I explain the situation and she says that since the transaction has gone through, all they can do is a refund which would take at least a couple days to clear.

She leads me to the customer service desk, where I proceed to pore over the print ads. Sure enough, everyone is listing the single-disc edition and their exclusives, but NOBODY seems to have actually printed a price for the mass release 2-disc edition I'm trying to price match. After being there half an hour, I finally throw in the towel and leave, having paid $4 more than I thought I was going to be charged. Had I known I would have been hit with that price tag--or a transaction without my PIN--I would have simply waited and taken my chances going to Target in the morning.

And, not that it matters, but of the nearly fifty copies I saw being brought to the register by the time I finally left, I don't think I saw a single person buying the Walmart package with the comic and coin. Sadly--and this will surprise no one on this forum--full frame versions seemed to be the leading seller.

If anyone is able or willing to get me a joker card from BB, I'd be willing to work out a deal. Just shoot me a PM!

are the joker cards the same ones that are supposed to come with the dvd when it's released? aren't they supposed to be included on-pack? i thought that's what the ad said... or are they handing them out to people who buy the dvd, just like you would pick up a free litho like they did with iron man?

they are NOT on the pack... they just hand them to you at the register. No idea how limited they are... i'd imagine not very.

I too just got back from Best Buy midnight release. Got the special edition blu-ray with the joker mask/statue thing. They gave out a dark knight tshirt (batman logo made up of "ha ha" and the back says "Anarchy will begin on blu-ray and dvd on 12/9/08) and a joker playing card so im pretty happy. Got there 11:50 and was about 20th in line at Oxford Valley, PA

JUST WALKED IN FROM BEST BUY'S "THE DARK KNIGHT" MIDNIGHT MADNESS HERE IN NJ! I pulled in the parking lot at around 11:25 EST and there were only a couple of other cars there. Then at around 11:35, I saw people getting out of their cars and more and more people pulling in to the lot...I made a bee-line for the BEST BUY doors and was 8th on the line that immediately swelled to over 50 Bat-Fan's. Just so you West Coasters know, it goes real fast--I was back in my car at 12:10 AM!

They immediately direct all traffic over to Customer Service where you get in the mouse maze line. I was one of the few to grab the freebies which included a very cool T-Shirt in black w/ the yellow BEST BUY logo on the left shoulder. Front of the shirt has the words "HA HA HA" written over again but if you look at it from a foot in front of you, you see that it makes the shape of a BAT SIGNAL! Very Cool. On the back of the T, it says: "ANARCHY BEGINS ON BLU-RAY AND DVD 12/9/08." I may have to keep this T-shirt for being a sheer Bat-fanatic. Also given out was an "I BELIEVE IN HARVEY DENT" button. Quite big, not the one we have all seen w/ Aaron Eckhardt's mug on it. And finally a playing card w/ the TDK one-sheet on one side and the other w/ a pic of Bats covered w/ a red smile on the bottom half.

I nabbed the DC DIRECT Batman Statuette (I was 8TH on line and they were already out of JOKER Statuette's!! Weak. They had plenty Batman.) I have to say it is a pretty nice statuette of Batman although smaller than I expected. I was able to nab the *only* Batpod LE BD that was anywhere to be found and got one LE BATMAN COWL BD & one LE CLOWN MASK BD. Anyway, thats my report. Lots of fun and enthusiasm from the crowd and staff was as usual extremely helpful. (The CIRCUIT CITY directly across the street is in their final days of being open so I guess BB is pretty happy) Anyway, best of luck Bat-fans. Gotta get some ZZZZ's to hit TARGET @ 8 and WAL-MART.

Happy Holidays!

I was fortunate enough to grab the last DC Direct Joker Statuette, and I was 6th in line... So, yea, they went quickly.

Fuck looks like the DC Direct statues seem to be in limited supply so I will have to head over to BB before I go in to work.

If the Paypal card is a Visa or MasterCard, I am quite sure they can run it through without the PIN. They would just run it as a credit card.

If it isn't a Visa or MasterCard, then, yeah, something doesn't sound right.

I'm planning on getting the version with the coin. All the other exclusives (besides the steelbook) such as the masks at Best Buy, the mask version at Target, the Circuit City Joker cover, the Best Buy single playing card, the figurines, etc., don't strike me as worthy.

And what is it with people and fullscreen? I guess there are just some people who are used to it and/or they have a small TV, but why pay for something that cuts off the image? There are more people now who go for widescreen but still so many who want fullscreen. They should call it "less-screen."

Thanks for the reports guys, heading to grab my friend soon here on the west coast to head over to Best Buy. We weren't sure how early to get there or about waiting in line, but it would be nice to get a t-shirt.

I'm not sure if i want to try and get that Joker toy yet.

Just got back from the Midnight sale at Best Buy in Milwaukee, WI and i got there at about 11:30 and there were already at least 50 people in line and by Midnight there were easily 150 people and the funny thing is we are having a MAJOR snow storm as we speak. I was about 50th in line so no t-shirts for me, but i got the Batpod Blu Ray (with only 4 left), and both of the Blu Ray's with Joker Mask and Batman Mask's and I was lucky and grabbed the last 3 Joker Statuettes, they had only about 10 each of the Mask versions. Oh yeah i also got the joker playing card.

Decided to geek it out and head on over for the midnight event at the Best Buy near me. Picked up some snacks and was there a bit after 11. Already 8 in line so I was #9. They gave out the t-shirts and I got one, looked like they had about 20. Got the regular BD, didn't really care for the Batman cowl or Joker mask set but did get the Batman and Joker DC direct statues. Got the card at checkout but didn't see any buttons. Cold and getting to bed late but first time to do something like that and it was enjoyable.

I picked up the WalMart coin set on the way home from work! What's odd is it has three barcodes, the one on the actual DVD, another on the shrinkwrap and then another on the box! What's odd is it came with a digital download code which I think is a mistake since it doens't prompt to put it in when you pop the disc in:lol

Just got back from my Best Buy! On my way to pick up my friend I drove past at around 11 to see if anyone was in line and saw about 6 people there. Went and grabbed him and came back around 11:20. By then we were probably 12th or so in line although a bunch of people ended up hoping to the front of the line with their buddies. Still, we both got shirts (only larges and x-larges by the time we got ours) and buttons as well. The guy said they had enough for the first 20 people.

Plenty of everything when we got in, so I got the small Joker figure. I probably should have gotten the Batman too. Although they were both smaller then I thought, I thought they looked pretty good. Passed on the mask sets, and got the regular Blu-ray for myself and a single disc DVD for my friend at work, and got the playing card.

Kinda cool to go to. Not sure if i'd ever wear the shirt since it has the big ol Best Buy logo on the sleeve, but a nice freebie.

Got to Best Buy around 11:45 and there was a long line. Not sure how many people but I was far enough back that the line was curving around the corner of the building. By the time I got to the counter, all but 2 DVD copies with Bat cowl bust were gone, all batpod editions gone and just two batman figurines were still available. Obviously no shirts, but also no buttons or the playing card.

There were some gift card giveaways (10 giveaways of $25 gift cards) and 2 other batman related prizes (1 was an autographed copy of the DVD and I forgot the other). I won a $25 gift card and bought the plain blu-ray. A little disappointed that I missed out on the batman stuff but gettiing the gift card made the trip worthwhile still.
