Agreed. Once these stores announce they are closing down I don't think they will take Gift Cards anymore. Worse comes to worse (your store does not) you can always return the item and get the amount back on a GC.

Glad I didn't do a pre-order for Gears of War 2 from them as it looks like Circuit City is pulling out of the Kansas City market based on their store look up function.

All Midwest stores and Phoenix are closing.

It appears that everywhere else is okay.....for now.

Going back on topic, I'm really interested in Gears of War2 and the free 1600 point card for XBox 360. Glad the Buena Park store near where I live is still around even though their service sucks.

Nope, Not by FAR. Stores everywhere - CA, NY, FL, IL, TX....:

STORE CLOSING LIST

(and it's not ALL midwest stores. I live an hour or so outside Chicago, and mine's not on the list)

So, can we still use CC Gift Cards at the stores that are closing, with liquidators taking over?

They're pulling completely out of Atlanta.

OKC and Norman are closing, but they are keeping both Tulsa stores open. Interesting. I can't see the justification for one of them but oh well. Looks like I'll be making frequent visits to CC if they liquidate. Not far away down here.

I did a search yesterday for the one in Gilbert but it wasn't listed and now I see it on the list in that link as closing. The only Circuit City's coming up now within 200 miles of my zip code are 2 in Tucson.

So, will we be able to pickup our pre-orders at locations that have been identified as closing or not?

Probably not, but maybe they will if they are selling it at a profit. The stores that are to be closed by the end of the year will NOT be open tomorrow (Tuesday, November 4th). My guess is that they will transfer all the good merchandise to other stores and when the store re-opens for the liquidation sales only the junk type stuff will be left.

CC is having a hard time getting vendors to ship merchandise to them for the holiday season. It is a good strategy to take the easily salable good merchandise and move it to good performing locations where they can sell it for a good profit rather than liquidating it real cheap.

From the CC press release:

The list of closing stores can be found by visiting the company's investor information home page at http://investor.circuitcity.com and clicking the link regarding today's announcements. The company expects that impacted stores will not open on Tuesday, November 4, and the store closing sales will begin on Wednesday, November 5. The company expects the sales to be completed no later than calendar year end.

The store nearest to me is in Tallahassee, FL and will be closing. I hope the liquidators have some good deals. When the CompUSA store was closing they continued to have the same prices they always had.

Do you still have this ad available?

After 3 weeks of telling me i can come pick up the card when they have them in stock, the store changed their story to "The ad said while supplies last" I thoroughly read the ad, and it listed that no where. I watched the tv commercial, no where, read the online promotion, and no where was it listed about supplies last.

Finally after talking to the right people "Circuit City phone customer support" they transferred me to the manager of the store, who said "just this one time I will give you 2 800 point cards". "The ad said 'while supplies last', the cards are discontinued."

So why was I able to buy one in Miami this weekend? Why are they listed on the circuitcity website. Why bother lieing about the ad? Just suck it up and give your customers what you owe them.
