I don't think that will be the issue. I'm hoping they're a decent enough company to just cancel the orders if they choose not to process them.

Its just a temp charge for me so far. If it doesn't get posted, it will drop off in a few days. That and I am sure the cancel email will come as well.

More than likely, they're combing through the database of orders over the last 5 hours or so and flagging CS8001, and deleting the orders.

That's a negative. They definitely deduct gift card balance at the time that you place the order. I haven't used a credit card at Borders as of yet, but I read in another thread that they do put through the charge at the time the order was placed, including preorders. Keep an eye on your credit card statements.

I hope the OP at least gets their order. Maybe an instance where its better that you don't share the wealth.

The OP only shared a deal obtained from another site, so orders were flowing well before folks here learned of the deal.

i've placed several orders with borders and they never charge the credit card until the item ships. even on orders with different items having different release dates only the item that ships is charged to the credit card. my cc statement this month is proof to that seeing as i only have got one item from an order last month and only $10 was charged rather than the full $50.

as for gift cards i do not know, but with the extremely high chances of orders getting cancelled i don't know why anyone would risk losing their gift card balance.

What's SD... service desk? I'd like to have something more specific in case i need to dispute this. Where did this code come from?

Well, like others here have said, I will be absolutely SHOCKED if every one of these orders isn't cancelled. But hey, it was worth a shot.

AS for the deal, it woud appear to be a discount only the Customer Service department uses for something, but somene got wind that the code was going through on consumer-level orders, and put the word out here.

That's when we all rushed to order the big-ticket items we've had our eyes on for a long time. (... and a few less discerning greedy bastards just ordered multiple quantities and large price items to sell or try to exchange at full price somewhere.)

Well, it is officially dead now it seems. I waited a bit and just came back to my cart and it's now empty. I just hope I wasn't charged for anything, although I never did get to the last page to submit my order; it just died when I submited the credit card information. Oh well, it was a fun idea while it lasted (although I am still curious as to the fate of those who did get to place an order).
