good for you mcfly, i wish i was that lucky...

mraw 09-03-08 12:19 PM

My order was cancelled. I sent an e-mail but I will leave it at that. The only reason I sent the e-mail was because their e-mail stated that I cancelled the order myself OR the item wasn't in stock and neither of those statements are true.

JB7 09-03-08 12:26 PM

Those that shipped, what was your order number? Don't have to give extact, just the first couple numbers will do. Thanks!

thursdaynighter 09-03-08 12:36 PM

My order shipped early this morning. MY cc still has a hold for the amount of the order but the charge has not been made yet.

Mine is 5050XXX

I saw the post on SD minutes after it was posted and dashed to borders.com but didn't actually place my order until about 45 minutes later. I opted for overnight shipping in hopes that the order would sneak by and sure enough, it did. My packages were delivered this morning. I placed only one order though. Didn't want to be too greedy.

cinemaphile 09-03-08 02:34 PM

Well, I called. My order had been cancelled, so I had nothing to lose - not like I was gonna make them aware of my order - they already knew.

Anyway, they are indeed cancelling all of the orders they can identify as having used the codes. Additionally, FYI, the reps have been told to ask where people got this code. I doubt they can do anything about it, but I'm sure someone will give them the site eventually.

I did ask what about people that have already received their orders or been shipped, and the BAD NEWS for some of you is he said, "yeah, I spoke to my supervisor and he says the people who already received their stuff WILL BE CHARGED the difference because it was not a valid coupon."

So i guess the silver lining for those of us who got cancelled is we avoided future headaches!

My Other Self 09-03-08 02:35 PM

HA!!

I'd like to see them try this. I'm going to call my bank and make sure no more charges from Borders go through then. I can't afford to have my bank account overdrawn by like $500.

I'm willing to go to battle. They'll lose. (1 of my 2 orders has now been shipped.)

Yeah there's no way they can win that one.

I don't know when I should give my bank the heads up. My initial charges haven't gone through yet.

Sweet Baby James 09-03-08 02:47 PM

I paid by gift card and don't have a credit card on file. My gift card has two additional dollars left on it. They are welcomed to it.:D

I'll notify my CC as soon as material evidence emerges that Borders will indeed be pursuing this action. For now, it's just hearsay.

Just sounds like sour grapes to me.

My Other Self 09-03-08 03:16 PM

I don't know how they think they can pull that off.

It WAS a valid coupon. That's just it. It WAS valid. They can charge you the amount YOU agreed to pay. Not just charge your card some more because they all of a suddent decide it was invalid. Eff that.

I'm not authorizing any more charges on my card from Borders, so IF that claim is true then they're going to be SOL trying to get more money outta me.

Got my shipment notification for my blu-ray harry potter set today.

For those of you who need to know this stuff, I ordered as a guest. I did not get an email confirmation for my first order but for this one I did. A rep on the phone told my wife yesterday the other one wasn't shipping because it wasn't available yet due to being on back order. It is worth noting immediately after placing my orders, they didn't sit in the 'guest pool' because I made an account right after, and they got linked to that account.

If they decide to charge me the difference, I'm not concerned. It's ILLEGAL to do so. I put through a coupon code, it got accepted. Then the order sat. My wife spoke to a rep on the phone who made NO mention of the code. They shipped out my stuff. I ordered, they took money, they shipped the product. End of story.

vedderone 09-03-08 03:43 PM

I called borders twice today asking about the status of my shipment as I have received a confirmation email but no shipping email

1st time I was told it was ready to ship but that they were waiting on approval of the charge from my bank. I said I would call my bank and call back

I call back after I talked to my bank and was told that it had been shipped out already and that i should be receiving a shipping email soon

if I dont receive it by tomorrow AM i will call back and check on its status

Personally, I didn't get the shipping notification until today, but my item was processed for shipping on the 1st and shipped the 2nd. It'll be here tomorrow. It's Heroes S2 on blu. Still waiting on S1. I have S1 on dvd but I'm hoping to upgrade. I've never seen an episode of the show, despite having the DVD for a while now.

My Other Self 09-03-08 03:48 PM

So are they still shipping these orders out in anticipation of re-charging everybody what they deem as "the correct amount"? That doesn't even add up.. that or it's an awful business standpoint.

vedderone 09-03-08 03:52 PM

awil so your saying you received your shipping confirmation the day after it was shipped? if so i still have a chance. The lady I spoke to was very friendly so i am hoping to get the email soon

I'm glad I didn't get on this deal because they do have every right to charge you guys full price for these DVDs so I hope some of you are smart & don't open them until some time passes. The coupon wasn't meant for everyone & it wasn't advertised anywhere so they can ask you to return it first & if you decide to keep it you are basically agreeing to pay the full price.I'm sure some people will slip past & get it for the price but most people won't,I promise you that. They will go back & find every recent order with this coupon used.So watch out.... Are you guys really going to let this ruin your credit for a few cheap DVDs? I don't think it's worth it.

How do they have the right to charge me more than what I agreed to pay? And how will this "ruin my credit" when I paid with my bank card?
