Go to their site and register to receive a free code each Monday via text message. For the Wednesday codes they offered previously, they were being posted on a redbox blog site. If you skim through this thread, there's a few others that Redbox has distributed for new customers, occasional promotions, etc.

Of course, there's lots of websites/blogs/forums on the Internet that post them.

Thanks, Trevor. I wonder when my phone will get the text. Sometimes it gets them right away, sometimes it takes a while. Once I didn't get it until 11:15 at night!
EDIT: I got the text about 10 minutes after I posted this.

Bad News:
Dear redbox customer,
The word is out that you can take home new release DVDs for only a $1 per night from the big red box. We know you know, because you've saved that dollar as part of redbox' Free Movie Mondays promotion, which is ending after May 11.
However, since so many of us could use an extra buck these days, redbox is going to keep the free flicks coming once a month throughout the summer. Beginning June 1, redbox will send a free movie code to your phone on the first Monday of the month as a thank you for using redbox.
So start thinking about what you are going to do with those 3 extra dollars this summer – pool noodle... 6 piece McNuggets® and honey... 64 oz cherry icie... And we'll keep thinking up new ways to delight you – Hollywood's newest releases, online reservations, movie reviews, witty remarks... seriously, it's endless.

Well, at some point we must have all known there is no way they'll keep the weekly free code going forever. It's a good run while it lasted.

I don't mind paying the buck, but I probably rented 50 movies so far without paying a single dollar. That includes many free coupons from McDonalds. I will continue to use it. The only other option is Netflix which I have had issues with and those aholes at Blockbuster so this is an easy choice.

Yep, it was fun while it lasted. I "rented" over 100 movies from them in the past year, without paying a dime. Not a good business model for them. I think most knew of the free Mondays, as each week, when i offed the code to the person behind me in line, they already had it. But I'll gladly pay the occasional buck for a new release. I'll start using their online reserve feature.

Re: Redbox free rental codes thread: Mondays, some Wednesdays, others
I just started using redbox for checking out new release films I'm on the fence about. I've been able to get 5 movies thanks to these codes (I also used the Breakroom one for first time users).
They sent me a free code a few days ago for signing up a new credit card, and today I get that same email saying they are only going to do free Mondays once a month after this coming Monday. Ah well, I'll stay pay the $1 if it's a movie I'm not sure if I want to buy or not.
I wonder how many free rentals they did each Monday on average during this promotion? It was cool while it lasted, even if it was just a few weeks for me.

Re: Redbox free rental codes thread: Mondays, some Wednesdays, others
I use the free codes but have paid for rentals several times. Having an off-the-beaten path kiosk and online reservations has been wonderful. I can check at work and pay a buck for a movie i want to see immediately and then swing slightly out of my way on the way home to snag it. Since the kiosk isn't in a huge place (like a Wal-Mart or a McDonalds) i never have to wait in line or interact with people. A buck for that kind of ease is a bargain imo.

Re: Redbox free rental codes thread: Mondays, some Wednesdays, others
I certainly have. I've often reserved a new release in the wee hours of Tuesday morning to be sure to get it. I'll be doing that very thing tonight to get "Taken". Besides, it costs me a lot more in gas to get to my nearest Redbox than an extra day's rent. Back in the days of free Mondays, Wednesdays, I'd take the Monday freebie, pay for Tuesday, and return Monday's rental while picking up Wednesday's freebie. Ah!, Those were the days
