Redbox Terms of Use:
"If you return the Disc prior to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, you will not be charged any additional Rental Charges.
Doh!

^ Though I believe they have a pretty good reputation as far as their customer service goes. If you turned it in a minute late and called them, I'm willing to guess they'd waive the fee. That's been my only pet peeve about Redbox is waiting in line to return something while watching people browsing through the available DVDs. I've almost been late before. I'd like a separate return slot on the side/back of the kiosk.

A second slot for just returns would be nice, but there is no way it will happen. It would create a pretty significant hardware and software upgrade cost to each machine. But one nice thing is that I'm noticing more dual machine set-ups.

Yep. Confirmed no charge. I was dreading the email, not because of the 2$, but because of the principle. I was forced to push them in at 9:00P exactly because this very slender high school-looking kid was browsing for what seemed like a lifetime before choosing his selection.

Anyone notice the clocks being off - waaaaaaaaay off - on the confirmation emails? I can't remember the precise time I did my drop-off, but I recall the time on the receipt email being at least a half-hour later than the time I was at the box. I remember thinking that anyone dropping off after 8:20pm would be hit with a charge. I'll have to pay attention next time.

I agree. I always thought that you had to use the screen because it scans the movies as it comes in and would give an error if the disc wasn't in the case or the bar code was the wrong way.
My wife managed to return an empty case and it didn't give an error, so it seems it would be so hard to just have a button next to the slot so we don't have to wait.

Has anyone received a free code through their Discover Card? I received my monthly statement last week with an insert that included a free Redbox rental code, only to be used with your Discover Card. I'm hesitant to post the code here in case it's a one-time-use code. Once I use it within the next week or two, I'll post it to see if anyone else is able to benefit from it. If nothing else, you may want to keep your eyes open for codes like this appearing in your mail.
I used it yesterday to pick up Slumdog Millionaire. The fine print says it's good til 4/30/09. It says that your Discover Card is necessary to redeem your promo card, but I'm willing to bet it's a general code and it doesn't matter what card you use.

Sorry about that, runner001! I had initially thought it might be a one-time-use code, but had held out hope that it could be used by everyone here. Glad you weren't put out (since you were already there) by giving it a shot.

Re: Redbox free rental codes thread: Mondays, some Wednesdays, others
It was a March promotion, playing off of the "March Madness" fever that hits the United States. They ran it for the first Wednesday of April as well, because some had trouble using it on the launch of the promotion in March.
Summary: Promotion is dead. No more Wednesdays for the time being.

Some people flat-out aren't concerned about others waiting. I went to a two kiosk place once when I had a movie reserved. I sat there and waited behind the lady at the 'B' station for about 5-6 mins while a lady was at the 'A' station looking for a movie. When the lady at the 'B' finished, the lady at the 'A' walked right in front of me and started using it and turned to me and said "I'm done with that one." I said, "But I've been waiting for this one because that is where my movie is reserved." She just said "Oh" and continued browsing. Some people...

^ Since most Redbox titles are sort of trailer parkish, I think you would have been justified in going all ninja on her.
