I'll be buying the complete series box set the day before Christmas if Best Buy has a 50% off HBO sets sale. That's how I got the Six Feet Under box set 2 Christmases ago.

IMHO, The Wire is in the Top Five of shows released in the last decade...some have described it as the best thing on tv.

One of the five greatest dramas in the history of television. Shame that the Emmy's ignore this show and keep giving nominations to crap like Boston Legal.

Naw man. I would put The Shield and Prison Break on the list instead. I never could get into Six Feet Under. Who wants to watch a show about the funeral industry. Too depressing.

I bought all 5 season for 115. Todays Gold box deal for 95 plus 38.99 for season 5. Minus 20 dollars for using bill me later. Awesome deal. 23 Bucks a season.

i agree. i would be one who describes it as "the best thing on tv". i am repeatedly surprised at the amount of snubbing this show has taken by the emmy awards.

No HD - I'm pretty sure all five seasons were in 4:3 aspect ratio. I would think that makes a BD release quite a bit less likely.

Still, The Wire belongs on a Top 10 Of All Time list along with Arrested Development and Freaks & Geeks. I would put The Wire somewhere around #6 on that list.

Quick question - My DVDs arrived the other day and I noticed that Seasons One and Two has non-foil covers. Were foil covers ever released for the other seasons? It looks as if the packaging was slightly changed (cheaper) for Seasons Four and Five...

Casablanca wasn't filmed in HD yet it was released in HD. Same goes for plenty of other films.

Yeah, but The Wire looks like it was filmed with video cameras that were purchased at a low-end electronics store. I could be wrong though.

the first three seasons were in digpak style packaging, I believe foiled originally(a friend has borrowed mine but am 99.9% sure)season one was silver, two green, three blue. Season four and five have a slip cover with slim packs inside, not foil. Not sure if that answers the question
