Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly

OK, so what just happened? I signed up for Borders Rewards Plus tonight when placing an online order and an hour or so later I get a "$10 in FREE Bonus Bucks -- Our Gift to You!" e-mail that says they expire November 23rd. The description in my online account calls it "$10 BB - Best Customers File 2". The offer on the web site home page clearly says the $10 Bonus Borders Bucks you get for signing up are redeemable 12/26/10 to 1/1/11. In the last 6 months I only bought one small item at Borders besides the two today using their coupons, so this can't be something I earned on the regular rewards card. I'm just wondering if this is some special bonus in addition to the $10 I'm supposed to get later for signing up for Plus or if they mistakenly sent that out early.

It's a different bonus because I just received that email and I did not sign up for the Plus membership.

Ah, ok, then I can't consider it a free membership yet then since I guess I would've got the $10 anyway. Too bad I didn't wait a couple more hours to use that 33% off coupon since it's still good for 80 minutes. Buying something at full price will negate most of the value of the $10. Best I found so far for something I want is a CD that's only about $3 more than Amazon.

I did wait and am trying to take advantage but I'm having trouble using the Borders Bucks. It shows the $10 in my account but on the payment page it says I have $0.00 Borders Bucks.

I got the same "$10 in FREE Bonus Bucks -- Our Gift to You!". At first I was going to delete it, thinking it was the $10 if you purchased a Rewards Plus membership.

The email says the $10 expires Nov. 23rd, but when I check my account, it shows the usual end of the month expiration (Nov. 30th), so I'm hoping that one is correct. All I need now is a 40% coupon that is good until Nov. 30th. If so, I'd get Fantasia 4-Disc BD for $7.59 (40% off $45.99 MSRP - $10 Disney coupon - $10 Bonus Bucks)

UPDATE: I forgot that Borders is now price-matching, so even if a 40% coupon isn't available, there should be a good B&M price that I can have them PM to.

Same thing is happening to me, I'm guessing that I won't be able to use it for a few more hours....shame, I was so excited LOL, there were a couple ebooks I wanted to buy (that are actually qualified to use borders bucks)

I got the email too and the $10 wasn't showing up at first. But I just tried now (after 7amEST) and its in there. I used the 33% off coupon and got Cronos for $13 shipped. I WAS going to get America Lost and Found....it would've been about 55 bucks... BUT I figured why spend the money now...I'll just ask for it for Christmas.

I also got the $10 email. I tried the other 33% coupon but it was now expired. However, searching the web I found a new 33% one good thru 11/21: BJK7974N
Preordered the new Monk hardcover that comes out in January for ~$5 after discounts. I like free money

Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly

I should have waited three days. Ordered a $11.99 DVD Monday with the 33% off and it ended up being $8.67 including tax.

Now it might well have been free...or at least under a buck.

I also checked my Borders Rewards and it shows both the $10 bonus, expiring November 30, and a regular $5 one for the month of December. Last time I checked, I was on the borderline of $100 in purchases...did they lower the bonus bucks purchase requirement from $150?

I got that too. Combined it with the 40% off any CD coupon from last week and took home the John Lennon "Gimme Some Truth" 4CD box set for $13.39 (!).

You mean they accepted the coupon in-store past the Thursday expiration date, or you got the free bucks in time to use them on Thursday?

Another question, these coupons that say "one-time use," does that mean one time online OR in store, or does that mean one time in the store and then one other time online?

The website will prevent you from using each code more than once on an online order. At the store itself, the only limit is what clerks will let you get away with per transaction.

I used the 33% off coupon and the free $10 in Borders Bucks on the pre-order of The Complete Metropolis Blu-ray. Unlike B&N.com, Borders.com lets you use coupons on pre-orders.
It's $35 before coupon, 23.45 after, and 13.45 after applying the free Borders Bucks. If you have a Rewards Plus membership it's even less.

Yeah, it's now $100 after the first $150 in purchases, on the regular(i.e. free) membership. So, you'd get a reward at $150, $250, $350, etc.

Neither the coupon nor my B.Bucks were expired when I used them. I used both to get the $13.39 price.

50% off one item, Wednesday Nov. 24th only:

LINK

I'm going to take a chance that my free $10 Borders Bucks will still be valid on Wednesday (email said it expires on the 23rd, but online it shows that it doesn't expire until the 30th).

Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly

An email I got Monday said my Bonus Bucks expired on the 23rd, so I hightailed it to the website, ordered a CD/DVD that my daughter wanted and between the 33% and the bonus, ended up paying $8 for something that lists for $26.

Went to the store later and used a physical coupon to get a book for a friend. Nice to know that can have multiple uses.
