Again, when posting a new deal, could everyone please tell us which Big Lots you hit? Not everyone has their location listed under their names.
Thank you. |
Is there any Columbia/Sony titles that will not end up at Big Lots? Seeing stuff like Adaption,HellBoys and Capote suprised me. These films are not very old.

^Same here. I'll get almost any TV on DVD series at $3/season. I recently picked up "1st and Ten" for $5 at WM even though it was, IMHO, a fairly lame series and is reported to be the synidicated versions of the episodes. But 80 episodes for $5... I can forgive some lameness/editing. :)
I picked up: "Bite the Bullet" "The Karate Kid" and didn't notice until I got home they are FS versions! :( They'll probably go back... Also picked up: "Hellboy" 3-disk Directors' Cut (The clerk asked me if it were any good as *lots* of people had been buying that one.) "The Prisoner" (Alec Guinness) "Gattaca" (finally a copy here!) "Close Encounters" (Highly over rated, but for $3...) "Hollow Man" Superbit (only for Elisabeth Shue and the SFX) There was *lots* of Columbia restock (notably, "Bubba Ho-Tep" and "Guys and Dolls" DE) along with most of the new titles people have been listing. Also saw some HBO restock, but *not* "Cracker" - Series 3. :( I was very pleasantly suprised as the BL here seems to be 1-3 weeks behind new stock postings! |
for TV series on DVD, I can't recommend highly enough the HBO sitcom Lucky Louie. I had never even heard of the show (or Louis C.K.) before, but breezed through 6 episodes last night and will do the last 7 today. It's absolutely hilarious! I woulda paid full price for it, but at $3, it's an amazing bargain find!

I was at the Niagra Falls store last night, and saw much of what has already been mentioned, as well as a few other others;
The Missing (Normal and Extended Cut) Monster SE Stealth FF Splitting Heirs Opportunity Knocks Legally Blonde 2 Agent Cody Banks Stuart Little Capote / In Cold Blood Double Feature An Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder |
Found just about all of these at the Augusta, ME store today except the only one I really wanted, the Panic Room 3-disc. Oh well, better luck next time I suppose. I did pick up a couple of things to make myself feel better, including the Memento SE which I'm not sure if I saw anyone mention yet.

Picked up the Notorious Bettie Page this afternoon. They had the anime sets, Mind of a Married Man, and Lucky Louis (which i left there). I also totally stole someone's copy of TNBP. The DVD was in among the video games and turned upside down so the top label didn't show. It just happened to catch my eye and i was stoked to find the exact movie i wanted tucked away awaiting me.
All this was at the Marietta, Ohio store. Now i need: Hellboy Baron Munchhausen Who's the Boss and eventually would love to find the Rocky set. |
I just bought:
Who's the Boss - Complete 1st Season Clay Pigeons The Babe Captain Corelli's Mandolin Edison Force Opportunity Knocks Mixed Nuts OOP WS/FS Flipper (Steve Martin) Guess Who Sleepwalkers Everytime We Say Goodbye Booty Call: The Bootiest Edition Panic Room: 3-disc SE Balto 3 All Dog's Christmas Carol Also bought Roxanne OOP WS/FS flipper. I already have this one, but bought an extra one. I also saw MY LIFE starring Michael Keaton. It was FS only. If anyone finds an extra MY LIFE WS/FS flipper, I'll buy or trade it. |

Picked up these discs at the Big Lots on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. in San Diego:
Hellboy (3-disc set) Panic Room (3-disc set) The Producers (original, 2-disc special edition) Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (Collector's Edition) Tsunami: The Aftermath (HBO mini-series, 2-disc set) Maria Full Of Grace Also saw plenty of Who's The Boss: Season 1, Guys and Dolls (deluxe edition), Bad Boys 2 (deluxe edition) and many of the other titles that have been popping up recently at Big Lots. Still haven't seen that New York, New York (SE) that some of you reported finding. Can anyone help me find it? |
Big Lots on Western Blvd in Cary, NC had the following titles I picked up:
Hellboy 3-disc (there were at least three copies left) Guys and Dolls deluxe edition (only saw 1 copy) Capote An Evening with Kevin Smith 2 Who's the Boss Complete Season 1 (several copies of this) Hudson Hawk special edition They also had two copies of the Woody Allen box set (the one with Zelig) Several copies of Bubba Ho Tep collector's edition Peter |
I just picked up:
A Bucket of Blood Postcards from the Edge Capote / In Cold Blood: Double Feature Who's the Boss: The Complete First Season Thanks to everyone who mentioned getting Who's the Boss; I still can't believe I got the whole first season for only $3. -eek- I had grabbed a copy of Capote, but when I saw the double feature, for the same price, and with all the same extras on the single-disc release, it was a definite no-brainer. Rob |
Watch out for the Mixed Nuts dvd. I've bought 2 copies and both have side A is widescreen and side B is full screen on the covers. I opened the first one and it had a label on one side of the disc covering up the widescreen side. I then opened the second dvd and it was the same. I'll be taking them back. I'm still going to be searching.

If any one finds MY LIFE starring Michael Keaton or BITE THE BULLET starring Gene Hackman in the OOP WS/FS flipper, I buy or trade you for them.
I have an extra of Mortal Thoughts, Roxanne and Truth or Consequences, both are OOP WS/FS flipper |
Picked up these in the Fontana, CA store.
Hudson Hawk (SE) The Replacement Killers (SE) An Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder Very Bad Things Guys and Dolls deluxe edition Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (Collector's Edition) The Replacement Killers (SE) Opportunity Knocks Men in Black - Collector's edition Few Good Men Three Stooges Curly Classics Leon the Professional (uncut international version) No Hellboy and a lady by me had the last copy of Who's the Boss in her hands or I would have got a copy. |
Okay I really have to stay out of Big Lots now that I've discovered it. Went in there again to see if any new ones came in and they had a whole table of them - I was in heaven. Picked up:
Capote (WS) Chris Rock Never Scared Citizen Cohn Enough (WS) Fun With Dick & Jane (WS) (1976) Half Past Dead (WS/FS) Hollow Man (Superbit Deluxe, 2 disc set) Hudson Hawk (Spec. Ed.) (WS) Leon The Professional (Uncut Int’l Version) (WS) A Mighty Wind (WS) Mo’ Money (FS) Philadelphia (Anniv. Edition/2 discs) Postcards from the Edge (WS/FS) Scoop (WS) Wedding Crashers (WS) Who’s The Boss? Complete First Season It killed me that they had the Deluxe 2-disc edition of Guys & Dolls because of course I paid like $14 at Walmart, and I have no idea why I bought Who's The Boss except that I couldn't pass up a whole season of anything for $3.00. I think I'm going to return Who's The Boss. :) |
