Bummed I didn't get to use the 25% off coupon again today but I wasn't able to get out. I might try some $5 coupons tomorrow...

I loved how easily these 25% off coupons worked. Clerks rang up the item, scanned the barcode, and that was it. No guff.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I have not purchased a B&N membership because I get an online discount from AAA. So I was delighted to see the rather infrequent 25% off coupon for non-members - in-store only - which expired on the 15th.

There are about eight B&N stores within 20 miles of where I live so I used the 25% off coupon many times to purchase Criterion DVDs. I only used them one at a time, though I did go back to the same store more than once and used the coupon a second time. Since I am not a member the computer does not identify me so I didn't worry about being rejected -- I did not encounter any overly officious clerks. In fact, most were delighted to accept the coupon.

My biggest purchase was the Carl Theodor Dryer box set - $79.99 brought down to $30, plus sales tax. A $50 savings was more than plenty for me! And I bought some Fellini and Kurosawa titles - $39.99 brought down to $15, and Bunuel titles, mostly at $29.99 brought down to $11.49.

In all I used that coupon about a dozen times without any problems. Only one clerk decided to read it very slowly and then scanned it without a problem. If they scan it and it goes through they seem content, if not happy, to let me use it. Only one clerk called his manager before scanning it because the Criterions were already on sale - but he got the OK and it scanned, as I knew it would.

I will wait till near the end of the sale to see if any new non-member coupons surface, though I doubt that any will - and will place a final order using my AAA online discount to catch any remaining Criterions I may be interested in.

Thanks to this thread for the coupon info!

Laser,

As a FYI I got postcard in the mail yesterday with two 15% off member coupons. One is already posted W4B4D8M.

The new one is X4Y7U4Y -- standard disclosures apply, good from December 7 to December 24.

The last few years 25% coupons have been infrequent even for members. I could be wrong but have a feeling B&N might have an online 25% coupon for members and non-members before Christmas. I was sort of disappointed there were not any online codes with recent store coupons. However it doesn't look too good for any new non-member coupons before the Criterion sale ends. There is a slight chance for some Monday but that is also supposed to be the last day of the sale.

Thanks! I'll make note of it on the first page. However it probably will not get activated until next month. I assume B&N included 15% store coupons with the online codes.

Some new coupons for members for this weekend. Two for books and one for 20% off of any item.

Here.

I just tried the new 20% off coupon P4U8H8N, and couldn't get it to stack with standard member discount of 10% off.

I got a lower price using 15% off coupon W4B4D8M, which did stack.

YMMV.

Order it instore for home delivery. You should still be able to use the coupon.

I'm off all weekend, and have about 6 stores within 20 miles of me.

If your retirement plan includes options in my savings account, divest now.

The coupon states that ship-to-home orders are not eligible, though.

Just got back from the store. The clerk told me if I special ordered something for in store pick-up, and paid in the store then and there for it, I could use any coupons, member discounts etc.

Now I just have to decide if I want to spend $30 for 4 schlocky movies. They look fun, but I'm so far far over budget right now as it is. I need to just stop and kick back and enjoy what I've got.

I put a similar disclaimer on the first page a few days ago when I ran across the coupon. I noticed that it appears to take only the 20% off and not apply the 10% members discount. It's only slightly better than a 10% coupon when you have a membership. I'm not sure if the store coupon is calculated the same way though. However it's better than nothing if you used all the other coupon codes.

A lot of stores seem like they will over look that stipulation and let you use them for ship to home orders. But of course ymmv depending on the employee at the store.

Wow... that's hardly a member's appreciation event at all. I apologize for posting it w/o reading the fine print (especially since you had already posted it on the first page). Whoops!

It's kind of a bait and switch coupon, they are telling you it's 20% off and then
you try to use it and it's not ...your 10% membership discount should be on any and every thing you buy why else would you even join if thats not the case?

I might eventually return my membership..

That's okay. Not everyone may have known about the coupon. It's better than nothing.

Edit: It does appear the members discount does apply to the coupon but is calculated as part of a total single 20% discount. I noticed it says on the printable version it "includes member discount" on one item. So the 10% members discount must be calculated in with the 20% discount, and not separately like most other B&N coupons.

Anything in store with the coupons is a big your mileage may vary. However it seems more stores are clamping down on coupon stacking if that is what you are asking.

Big thanks for the 25% coupon. Picked up Last Year at Marienbad and Le Deuxieme Souffle in-store. I usually buy from B&N online but that coupon was too good to pass up.

Stacked away today on Criterions -- Thanks to the 20% off coupon that showed up in my email box today, as well as a $5 off a single DVD and $5 off a $50 purchase, I bought Cocteau's Orphic Trilogy for $28.79 (which I'd ordered earlier this week), Children of Paradise for $13 and the full version of Grand Illusion for $13. I love my B&N store and clerks...
