I think you're getting the coupon confused with the coupons from last week that use the same code online and for stores. The online code is different and is on the first page of the thread. The current store coupon is strictly for store purchases and has its own unique number.

The last round of unique codes was sent to former Borders members. I suspect most of the higher %, unique codes are sent to email addresses that have little or no purchase history at B&N.

I'm a former Borders member. I got all of the emails about a free temporary membership, but never got any coupon codes.

So am I and I didn't get any either. But no one said they went to all former Borders members but they were intended for them as mentioned in previous posts. There's no way to know exactly why they only go to certain accounts.

A number of us have had luck using a store coupon on pre-orders when doing a ship to home order in store. So that's an option if you have a store nearby.

I used this twice about an hour ago. Bought a criterion blu-ray, then a book. Worked flawlessly both times.

I've decided to add YMMV for this. After reading on facebook, it seems that it might not work for everyone. Just wanted to throw that out in there so someone doesn't drive 40 minutes for nothing. If you go to Criterion Collection's facebook page, you'll find a couple of post with various people posting 40% coupons.
