It's too bad I spent money on a lot of those titles when they were full price. I wouldn't call "In Good Company" a meh film, but I'm not sure what it really gains from HD. U-571 is great in HD though, and worth every penny of 3.99

Unfortunately you mis-read the list. U-571 is $6.99...

kenbenobi 06-14-08 10:41 AM

I got suckered into buying 4 more. School for Scoundrels was $7.99 before, so I passed during the free shipping sale. I also bought Patch Adams, Mercury Rising, and The Matador... $24.72 shipped, so $6.18 each. Even if they add on another 3%, it's still cheap enough. But I experimented this time, and used my bank account instead of credit card through Paypal. I'm curious if the 3% will still be added. My bank and c/c are both US Bank, but maybe the fee is for c/c only. I'll post once I find out...

iNetVideo has had these titles for cheap for a while now, first they were discounted, then there was free shipping, now there's another discount and discounted shipping. The (meh) was contextual, as most people who have been following the saga have likely picked up all the titles they want by now. Even with discounted shipping, one would likely need to pick up 3 or 4 titles to make it a great deal, and most of the folks who might do that probably don't have that many titles on their personal wishlists any longer. I know I don't.

Personally I'm waiting for iNet to get other studios' titles. I've already bought 20 or so of these movies, and am quite happy with the ones I've got for the price I paid, but of the remaining titles - well, if I wanted them I'd have them by now. Hence, "meh". :)

They may not be A-List titles, but as far as I'm concerned, the price is right. Do I need to own them on HD-DVD? Probably not. But I don't own them on SD already, so $6 shipped for some of these titles is still worth it to me... Watch them twice, and they've paid for themselves. I wouldn't buy any titles I don't think I'll watch more than once... And I also read the DVDTalk reviews--they've talked me out of a few titles, such as Nutty Professor...
(I know your comment wasn't directed at me, but I just wanted to give my opinion on these "meh" titles)

FYI to all, that list is just the ones with recent price changes. There are still many more $5.99 titles available, such as:

Guess Im one of the few who likes Nutty Professor... the second, not so much

STILL waiting on response over a Cinderella Man that was sent instead of Children of Men like I ordered... getting frustrated, Ive called (left message... shocker) and emailed them a few times with no true response

ScissorPuppy 06-14-08 07:31 PM

I have received 3 no payment emails in the past week, But one shipment notice.

WTF?

DVD Polizei 06-14-08 08:29 PM

kenbenobi,

Get the first Nutty Professor with Eddie Murphy. Trust me. The second one was ok, and not necessary, but I grabbed the second one because of the price. Norbit I won't touch for $1 if it was on HD DVD, but these two, I would.

ScissorPuppy 06-14-08 08:49 PM

Dave Chappell's "Women be shopping" rant is worth 5.99 alone!

JB7 06-14-08 09:10 PM

What is the current shipping rate? I am coming up with over $20.

g 06-14-08 09:15 PM

The shipping is only 20 percent off their regular high price. I'd wait for another free shipping deal as you have to buy approximately 12 cheaper titles to get a deal as good as the free shipping one.

Try the online chat service. I've used that several times and it's worked out great.

That only works if you are planning on placing a big order. There was a $50 minimum for free shipping... Of course, that is IF they offer free shipping again... If they do it again, it wouldn't surprise me if they raise more prices first...

I saw it in the theater and remember liking it, but there are NO extras on the HD-DVD, which I weigh heavily. I'll just catch it the next time it's on cable. I expect DVD's to give you SOMETHING that you can't get on cable, but this title has nada, zip, zero, not even a trailer...

Thanks!

I think I will wait. I missed out on the last free shipping because of storms and not getting the free shipping to appear for me. I am not one to just go ahead and order, then work it out kind of person. I figure thats asking for trouble.

Hmmm, that is a good point. I thought it did have the extras from the CE DVD.

ScissorPuppy 06-15-08 02:37 PM

For each title I bought, I checked with the DVDtalk review before purchasing.

In cases of Jarhead and Eternal Sunshine, the HD discs are loaded with all the same features that the "expensive" collectors sets have. Great deal!

How long did it take people to get their orders with Free Shipping?

I placed an order when the sale first started (no free shipping) on a Thursday, and it arrived on Tuesday. With the Free Shipping order I placed on June 8. I never got an e-mail stating it shipped, but checking the status on June 9, it said all items shipped, but I still have not received it. The status page I used was:
http://www.inetvideo.ca/store/pages.php?pageid=110

My first (non-free shipping) order was sent xpresspost/priority mail. Are they using a different method for the free shipping orders?

I just received my free shipping order yesterday. I think I ordered last Sunday, so it took 6 days...

I placed my free shipping order on Sunday and didn't get the e-mail saying it shipped until Thursday. So I should get my order this week.

No, that's how mine was sent. I ordered June 8, the postmark date was June 10, and I got it June 14. It was a pretty big order, too, with 16 titles...

GenPion 06-16-08 02:38 PM

I got my first Free Shipping order in today as well. It was a large order with 17 titles. All of the titles came in good condition thankfully, and only one or two movies were floaters - and both looked pristine once I finally opened up the box!

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for my recent Second Spin order...

DVD Polizei 06-16-08 08:26 PM

I received 5 HD DVDs from the Free Shipping order today. 1 floater. I'm just amazed at how even in the bubble wrap, they are in great condition, and considering how far they've travelled, but if it was a DeepDiscount order in bubble wrap, I'd be making the world's first HD DVD collage.
