John from Cincinnati - $30 Borders (50% Off Promotion)

I saw in several Northern, VA area Borders that David Milch's HBO series John from Cincinnati is on sale for 50% Off the $59.99 MSRP. While I DO think Milch is GOD (Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue, DEADWOOD*) I just couldn't get into this show.

Me neither. Watched the whole thing and at the end thought it was a waste of time. Starts off as a nicely weird drama with people floating in the air, raising the dead, and the like, but none of it is ever explained.

oh boy, we watched the pilot (disc 1) last night and thought it was the worst piece of crap we've ever seen...it was so atrocious, we both laughed ourselves silly afterwards at how we just wasted an hour of our lives...the script, the casting, the premise, the execution...holy cow, what a mess!

didn't mean to threadcrap here...just going along with the posts....

I'm confused. Your username describes you as 1 boy, yet you keep calling yourself "we".

I would have thought that such a person would have totally loved this show.

I haven't seen it, but even one of the castmembers, the guy who plays Lopez (also from Deadwood) said he didn't get it, but did it anyway.

You just distilled into one sentence everything that was wrong with this show. Well done.

i haven't seen the show but what's with this fixation on things making sense? from what i've read about it, it seems very surreal and intentionally so. no wonder it failed...

There have been plenty of surreal movies and TV shows that were also good. This wasn't one of them.
