I am conflicted now. I keep purchasing SD anime but I keep resisting with hope they'll start releasing more series in HD.

when it comes to anime, i believe HD is overrated anyway...I own ONE anime dvd in BR (Paprika) and that's it...i don't ever plan on buying any anime series in BR unless it's of equal or lesser price to the SD version (Which is not very likely at all)

With the exception of Bandai Visual USA, the other HD releases have been fairly priced, especially if you wait for a sale. I've seen the Sony HD anime titles for well

Tekkon is pretty spacy, it's the usual duality/good vs evil thing that's typical for anime. It's pretty colorful and takes good advantage of the format. JR had it on sale on BD a while back for $14. Well worth that.

Yeah, I got Tekkon on BR. For $12. But my anime looks great on my upscaling dvd player.

the only series I want to se rerelased and remastered is Macross Plus. that's my favorite anime. but even upscaled it shows it's age on an HDTV. It's too dark and too dirty. It needs a new pressing cleaned up a-la the remastered robotech.

Akira desperately needs a remastered Blu-Ray release. And by the way this non-deal HD anime discussion would be better suited in the Official ANIME Discussion Thread.

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for telling us what goes where.

I think it's OK to deviate a little every once in a while, especially on what deals to purchase and what not, because a lot of us gauge our deal purchases based on what they think is coming out in HD now...

Keep in mind that many of the series which have been released (other than those of the last couple years) are mastered on mediums which do not support HD without upconversion or scaling...

Oh, but those classics that were released on film (like Macross or Evangelion) would be perfect on HD, and I have no doubt there are HD masters exist or are in the works for many of these series.

Mine came all beat up as well, but it's to be expected when the put that huge, heavy boxset in a ****ing bubble mailer. Idiots. >_<

I already bought the set in store when I thought the online order was still on backorder, so I plan on taking the one mailed to me back with the receipt from the one I bought in store.

A little bit of a backorder (9 to 12 days), but Amazon has the Robotech collection for $37.49 if you missed out last week at Best Buy.

i tried this once a while ago and had no problems. when i did, i brought it the packing slip, dvd, and beat-up padded envelope to make a point.

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but the next reported TWEC promotion is supposed to be B1G1 on FUNimation titles. This promo may start tomorrow.
