It's been on sale at this price before. I paid that when it came out at Costco

That said, it's an absolutely fantastic set. If you don't have it, get it now. It's got 2 versions of each movie and an extra disc of documentary material.

Believe it or not, the director's cut of Alien 3 is really good!

It's not really a DC because Fincher has all but gone to Lacuna to have this movie erased from his life. It's more of an early cut. It is interesting and an improvement, but the movie is still a betrayal of the franchise. The people who complain about the third X-Men and Terminator films are forgetting just how bad a three-quel can be.

are the films in this set the same as the 2-disc colelctor's versions of earch film?

Asking b/c if I could get the four films for around $5 or so each it would be cheaper and I would only miss out on that 9th bonus disc.

Thanks.

Thanks, so $25.99 is a good price then. At least they made it $25.99 and not $24.99 where you have to add something to get free shipping.

This is one of my best DVD sets. I paid like sixty dollars for this when it first came out.

(It IS FOX after all, so I wouldn't be so optimistic of that happening any time soon with this set. Probably barebones stuff and eventually all the bells and whistles this set has.)

I ordered this on the 27th, and it arrived at my sisters house (I have all my packages sent there, since I live in an apartment) on April 1st! Very fast shipping. I just got over there, today, to pick it up, and I am holding it in my hot little hands, now! I'm getting ready to open this puppy up, and spend an evening watching as many of them as I can. My first time watching these films! Great deal for $25.99! Thanks, again, to those who post such great deals!

Can you name a good "third movie in a franchise"?

Obviously, there have been some pretty bad "third movie in a franchise" movies? As mentioned here: Alien 3, Robocop 3. Others that didn't measure up (to the previous two movies in the franchise) are: Godfather Part 3 and Batman Forever.

And some have argued that these "third movies" aren't as good as their two predecessors: Back To The Future 3, Spiderman 3, Star Trek Search For Spock, Die Hard With a Vengeance, Return of the Jedi, etc.

But are there any "third movies in the franchise" that were significantly better than the earlier two? I can think of some: "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" and "Goldfinger" and "Revenge Of The Sith".

Just for fun, can you think of any more titles that were a "third movie in a series" that happened to be better than the earlier two?

The third movie in the SW franchise was Return of the Jedi, not Revenge of the Sith. Forget about the 'prequel' renumbering, the 3rd movie made was RotJ. (It still pisses me off to see "Episode IV - A New Hope"--when it was released it was, and will always be, just plain "Star Wars"! )

The AQ marked the first time I sold in a boxed set to buy (some of) the titles individually. The packaging drove me mad. You have to unfold it an infinite amount of times to get to the first disc of Alien. Not to mentioned they must've used cheap glue because multiple trays slid off which I had to reattach with superglue.

Re: Alien 3, if you go to the IMDB messageboard its defenders are FIERCE! Always leaping at the throats of the Aliens fans. At least the Resurrection fans are more even-tempered.

the Bourne Ultimatum was the best of the three Bourne movies, in my opinion.

for what it's worth, i think Alien 3 is not nearly as bad as most people make it out to be and Alien Resurrection is by far the worst of the quadrilogy. i ordered the Quadrilogy in this sale and will probably replace the two Resurrection discs with my original Alien DVD (keeping it for the unique audio tracks) and Alien Legacy documentary DVD.

anyone want a 2-discer of Alien Resurrection without any packaging?
