Call first before you head out as you might be able to get it or not and save gas and time too. B&N has them online as well if you want an alternative.

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

In the case of GILLIGAN'S ISLAND at least, this Complete Series is just the three separate season releases bundled together. Which means you are getting the three discs per season sets that are flippers and, I believe, on the problematic DVD-18s. The genuine release of the COMPLETE SERIES has single sided discs.

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

I have the 2004 - 2005 (as in release year), individual season sets for "Gilligan's Island". All three seasons were double sided discs.

There is a newer re-release that houses all the seasons in a single thick case, you might be talking about that.

John, I think you may have misread my post as I said exactly the same thing as you.

I'm sorry. I have four hours of sleep in me.

The genuine release of the COMPLETE SERIES has single sided discs.
Wouldn't that be the first pressing, but that release had double sided discs.

When you're saying "genuine" which are you taking about? I'm confused.

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

Yes I could have been more specific about terminology and release years. By "genuine" I meant the Complete Series set that came out after the season sets and was the first to be labeled as such. As opposed to the three separate seasons bundled together to form an ad hoc Complete Series set that Costco is selling.

Actually there were two versions of the Complete Series. The first put the original season sets in a box and was labeled the Complete Series. the second, which the Warner website labels a "repackage," generally uses the same artwork, but changes the flipper disks to single sided disks and changes the individual season boxes within the outer box from fold-out cardboard boxes to plastic boxes with trays. If Costco is selling the three season sets shrinkwrapped together, I guess that would not be the Complete Series release.

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

Joe, thanks for the clarification! I did not know that WB had a release of the "Complete Series" prior to what they are calling the "Repackaged" set. That is great information to have when considering purchasing a used set online and I am grateful for it. I stand corrected with regards to my use of the ambiguous term "genuine." :)

I've seen the repackaged set at Best Buy.

Well, that explains the eight from five discs for the re-release of "North And South: The Complete Collection" I bought from Wal-Mart this week.

Costco near me had the repackaged Gilligan's Island with the single sided disks and plastic boxes with trays. Wonder Woman is still the cardboard boxes and the flipper disks. I don't believe that show has ever been repackaged.

Went to Costco for the first time in about 6 or 7 months yesterday. I noticed that their DVD selection is practically non-existent now (and they don't sell any video games nor CDs). Is this happening company-wide? Are they getting away from selling DVDs.
