Where? Stephen Chow DVD Bargains, if any?

Hi, I just joined and I recently found DVDbyte has a 45 movie collection set that they claim is "official" but upon further research I found that DVDbyte is a fraud... can anyone confirm this or give me alternatives to where I can find his movies for cheap?

DVDbyte thread, questionable? -- http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...d.php?t=125597

I'm mainly looking for:

God of Gamblers Series
God of Cookery
Kung-Fu Hustle
Shaolin Soccer

...and well basically now I really want to watch all his movies, but those are my priorities since those I know I've watched... not too sure about God of Gamblers... might've been another-- ah well! Thanks for the help in advance!

I've bought most of mine from dddhouse.com a few years back. They still carry a good deal of the Hong Kong releases from Fortune Star and such.

I got mine from DDDHouse mostly as well years ago - it was cheap. It should be pointed out though that not all of his movies are worth watching... I'd say somewhere around 60% - the rest are pretty crappy.

I don't know about bargains but easily my favorite film of his is 'King of Comedy' which I didn't see on your list...definitely a film of his you should seek out if you haven't seen it. I also got most of my Chow films from dddhouse.com but it looks like Amazon has a Tai Seng release for a respectable price...

King of Comedy is good, the God of Cookery is absolutely hilarious, and the God of Gamblers series is great. I also liked All for the Winner and Tricky Master, and of course Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. I'm sure I'm missing a few...maybe Justice, My Foot!

The one thing in god of cookery that absolutely kills me is when he's in the monastery, and the brass men are kicking his ass with a folding chair, there's always one monk just doing really emphatic karate poses on the side. I don't know why, but that makes me almost piss myself laughing.

Forbidden City Cop is hands down my favorite film from Stephen Chow.

Also, in case anyone doesn't already know, Dragon Dynasty is releasing a Royal Tramp Collection next week at a reasonable price. Could be worth picking up if the transfer is nice. The versions I have are the old HK non-anamorphic letterbox editions. This will be a nice upgrade for me.

These are in chronological order more or less... I have pretty much all of these and have seen most... The oldest ones suck the most IMHO. I didn't like his serious stuff like Curry and Pepper or Final Justice. His films are hit or miss really, but I've put a plus next to ones I remember liking - though it's been awhile and I could be remembering wrong. If I put a minus sign, then I remembered it as being particularly sucky. Best thing to do would be to check IMDB scores and don't get anything that got less than like a 6.5 or whatever.
