I picked one up for my girlfriend for Christmas. We're exchanging after the new year since she's out of town.

Are these hd-dvd players any good? The amazon reviews seem less than impressive...

The movie selection is kinda lackluster though...

How do you get 300 and Bourne Identity if you order the A30? I thought it was just the A3 that had those movies in the player's box. I've looked at the A30 at Best buy and the box makes no mention of having those 2 movies included.

300 and BI is included w/ the A30 in the box.

If anyone orders Sky Captain or 2001 as your free moies I'll trade you new copies of any of these HD-DVDs for them:

It's $181 now. Went up around $3... sort of a weird change.

It is a matter of opinion and personal experience. I thought that getting the new A-30 as it was released would ease some of the problems that earlier models experienced. I guess I was wrong with that as I have had several different problems with it over the last 2/12 months. Weird error codes, unable to play disc,and the inability to handle some of the combo discs to name a few. All of these may sound like bitching but when it affects the playback, which is all that is asked of an HD-Dvd player, then it is justified.

I can't get this deal to work. I add the Toshiba A3, The Shining, Clockwork Orange, and 2001 to my cart. The discount doesn't show up at checkout. Is anyone else having the same problem?

To get the deal to work, it should work by selecting the player and the three HD-DVDs all on the same page that the deal is accessed by the link. If it doesn't then a call to Amazon would probably help...as a suggestion.

Also, if you have a problem with the player you bought, then first try updating the firmware. If that doesn't work, (like my HD-A3 freezing up alot), then I contacted Amazon who then sent me a brand new one and sent back the one I initially got (shipping paid by Amazon!). The second one I bought works great.

Don't get stuck with a lemon...just call Amazon to help.

The discount shows on the very last page, you have to go all the way through to the final step (before the purchase) and you'll see the $$$ taken off.

Question about the rebate:
Do I include a copy of the Amazon packing slip, the email confirmation or something else?
