Blockbuster: 3 for 20 used DVDs

Title says it all. Any used titles under 15 bucks, which is really all of them (except for the odd TV set that someone might have traded in) Seems to be a recurring holiday weekend thing. Supposed to last until Sept 10. The last sale around July 4th's scarce items are plentiful in stock, like the 2 discs of Pan's Labyrinth and Ghost Rider. Some other newer titles starting to trickle out like Black Snake Moan and Shooter. The 4 for 20 for all 10 bucks or cheaper ones is still going on, but that's pretty much a year round staple at this point. Myself, I got Black Snake Moan, Apocalypto and the Dead Girl (sorely overlooked movie).

Working there, I also saw a few more newer titles being transferred next week, among them a couple Hot Fuzzes and Pathfinders. None out at my store yet, but if you're interested you might want to ask your local one.

There's also a sale on 300 brand new, the single disc. 5 bucks off, running about the same time. However, since the regular price sucks anyway (21.99) it's not exactly a bargain.

Me and my cousin went to a Blockbuster earlier tonight and noticed this deal. He has a big box of extra cases that he bought, so we just switch out the Blockbuster cases for the ones that he has (single caes, double disc cases, white cases, etc).

Anyway, I think I did well tonight. For $21.40, I got the following:

-Black Snake Moan
-Insomnia (Criterion Collection)
-Ratcatcher (Criterion Collection)

Also, as a side note, do not simply trust the prices listed on the cases. The deal is for anything $14.99 and under, that part is true. However, many things that have a $16.99 sticker actually rings up at $14.99 (if not all of em). When I picked out my three, Insomnia was listed at $16.99, and I simply went up to ask if I could get the 3 for $20 deal. They said no, so I decided to have them scan it to make sure the price was right. Just as I suspected, it did scan at $14.99. My cousin had another one he wanted that was priced at $16.99, one of the Dragon Dynasty DVDs, and it also actually scanned at $14.99 instead

So, if it's $16.99 (or maybe more, who knows), GET THEM TO CHECK IT TO SEE IF IT ACTUALLY RINGS UP AT $14.99 INSTEAD.

Got Pan's, Black Snake Moan and Factory Girl today. Still looking for Miss Potter for the wife, but overall I was happy.

Earlier this week I picked up the following 3 for $20:

CHILDREN OF MEN
THE HISTORY BOYS
PAN'S LABYRNTH (2-disc)

There are several others there I'm interested in, so I'll probably stop by during the week for some more.

Well, picked up Black Snake Moan and Pan's Labyrinth. Hate those cases (and would've gladly paid a bit more at HV), but BB is the only one that has the 2-disc PL.

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but Hollywood Video has the 2-disc version of Ghost Rider, yet the 1-disc of Pan's.

Got Curse of the Golden Flower (hope I don't have to double dip on this one, but I have a bad feeling about it), the Number 23, and Pride. Thanks OP!

Not at Blockbuster. The 9.99 titles are always 4 for $20, aren't they?

The "4 for $20" has basically been ongoing for many months now, so yes, it's practically a permanent feature.

The "3 for $20" unfortunately morphs into the much less desirable "2 for $20" for much of the time.

When this sale happened last time I remembered it being short so I talked my g/f into going in on Sunday night to check it out with me. I hadn't realized there were so many movies we both liked and hadn't picked up yet (especially since I am supposed to be saving money and NOT buying DVD's, but with some new cases, this is almost as good as Columbia House, and with much less hassle).

Anyway, picked up 3 bundles (Two 3 for $20 and One 4 for $20):
3 for $20:
Pans, Children of Men, Casino Royal
Music and Lyrics, Pursuit of Happyness, Little Miss Sunshine

4 for $20:
Stranger than Fiction
Science of Sleep
Two more I can't remember and it's really bugging me, AND my g/f took them with her (since she bought two of the bundles, they are hers.)

Sorta regret getting Children of Men; I forgot how barren it seems (get it?); it's basically a quick release with some title print stamped to the disc and a few extras thrown in. Not worth the $15 it was priced at (used), but at about $6 overall I guess I can't complain too much.

3 Questions.
1. Does anyone have a full/partial list of some of the newer 14.99 movies?
2. Does blockbuster still buy your movies?
3. Will they buy movies you bought from blockbuster or have blockbuster cases?

1. Not really. Some stores transfer out stuff earlier than others. Most everything that was released before July is out on previously viewed. Some July stuff is out too, but they're going to be in smaller amounts. Virtually no August releases yet. Really just depends on how many the stores got. Astronaut Farmer, for example, didn't set the money world on fire, but most stores got hardly any, so it's always out of stock, and I wouldn't expect to see it on PVD until the end of the year. And then you have something like Hot Fuzz, which most stores got a ton of that's already going out on PVD.
2. Yes. Not exactly the best deal in the world though. Some they won't take though, usually depending on how many they have (generally, if they sell it and it's cheaper than 10 bucks, they won't take it)
3. Yes, but like number 2, it depends on the title. Something like Pan's Labyrinth, yes. Something like Date Movie, which has been 3.99-5.99 for a good few months now, probably not.

Does anyone know if you actually have to buy 3 DVDs to get the discount? I know the sign says you have to, but so do the ones at Hollywood Video and they always give you the deal, even if you only buy one.

Giving this one last bump because the sale ends tommorow. Some new titles trickling out, like Shooter and the Number 23 as well.
