Best Buy History Channel Box Sets @ 1/2 of Sticker Price

Yesterday I stopped at my local Best Buy. I purchased the following: the two-disc "Julius Caesar's Rome"
MSRP: 29.95
BB Sticker: 23.99
Cash Register Price: 11.99 (60% discount compared to MSRP)!

I also purchased the six-disc "The Civil War"
MSRP: 49.95
BB Sticker: 34.99
Cash Register Price: 17.49 (65% discount compared to MSRP)!

I was not aware of any special sale on these box sets. There may be other titles with similar pricing, but I didn't have time to pursue. As usual, YMMV with your local BB!

The History Channel Presents The Civil War Set is also $17.49 at bestbuy.com ... it's a Special Offer ... Julius Ceasar's Rome is also available at the Special Offer price on the website ... as is History Channel - Engineering An Empire ... can't find any others ...

Thanks for the contribution! So I guess this deal must be available everywhere. I don't understand why my local BB didn't post a sale sign or something? It seems that Costco doesn't post sale signs either.

Actually the Best Buy across from NorthPark (above Park) had 3 or 4 copies each of the Modern Marvels even though it said no available for in-store. That is why I do not look at that, I go in. At this Best Buy I got the Dogfights and Technology one.

If you are up and around, go in rather than look online. It seems to never fail for me that it is supposedly "not available" and I go in and see it. In this case, in the TV section under "M" for Modern.

Glad it worked for you ... I called the Northpark store Fri around 6 PM to double check before ordering online ... and the guy in the DVD section told me that they didn't have any of the 3 in stock (of course, he was probably looking at the same computer inventory that I was) ...

If I were going to be near the store ... I might pop-in and check ... but at $2.50 a gallon for gas (not to mention my time), I'm not interested in driving all over Dallas County ... with the hope that the inventory computer made a mistake ...

I only saw the Modern Marvels set at my local best buy. Oh well. I would have liked Dogfights.

For Dogfights make sure to look under War/Westerns as well as Special Interest / Documentaries and the TV section. I have found these type of documentary shows in all these areas.

I think I found my Dogfights in the War/Western section.

For those type of titles which could be anywhere in the store, I often ask one of the BB staffers to check their computer inventory to see if their store location has the title. It only takes a few minutes and is much faster than searching the aisles!

Sometimes the in-store computers aren't accurate ... see Post #7 ...

Picked up the "Modern Marvels: Architectural Wonders" box and they honored the 10% off coupon available in another thread. $13.49 before tax. This was the last one at the BB Richfield, MN. store.

How true! I searched in the special interest documentary section for "Engineering an Empire", and then in the TV box sets under "E". The clerk found it in TV box sets under "H" for History Channel.

Did they have the collector's edition, or just the smaller release?
