I just got back from Walmart. I was there when the Heroes sets were still in the boxes on the floor. I picked up one before anyone in my town.

Just thought y'all might like to know that Walmart has it for $36.99, tying for the lowest in-store price with Best Buy, so no need for price matching, though I took a sales paper along just in case. ALSO, Walmart actually has one of the better exclusives. It comes with an Exclusive Bonus Disc with four complete episodes of Friday Night Lights and a Sneak Peek at Bionic Woman. The disc is packaged inside the box set in a little paper sleeve along with the other inserts. Too bad the extras have nothing to do with the Heroes show itself but rather to promote NBCs other fall line up. It's better than trading cards though in my opinion. Hope this helps somebody.

Yeah, IMO I really wouldn't consider this the "better" of the exclusives.

You're 100% right about it being promotion, but that'd be like having the Dexter Q&A bonus disc come with the Ugly Betty s1 set and vice versa. Content-wise, it doesn't make sense.

Yeah, Target's is still the best no doubt, but if you're all about bonus discs, it's still better probably than some trading cards or little pictures or whatever some of those other ones are.

Did it look like they were getting a good stock of the Heroes sets ? I just hope my Wal-Mart still has some when I get to them. Also the Bionic Woman preview is it just like a preview or do they give you the pilot episode?

I used the $5 off coupon at Target this morning and it worked with no problems. It took a minute for the scanner to finally read the thing, but that's it. It showed right up in the computer so I got the Collector's Edition for $39.99. Here's hoping it works for The Office and 30 Rock next week!

The Wal-Mart edition sounds really good though. I wouldn't have minded getting 4 episodes of FNL is check out. Oh well, I'd rather have Heroes exclusives.

BTW, it looked like my Target had around 10 of the special edition sets. They were sitting on the top shelf in between the regular edition and Friday Night Lights.

Used the $5 off $25 this morning at my Target. Buying the exclusive with the coupon, Friday Night Lights, and using a $5 gift card from buying South Park last week, my total came to $60 and some change, which makes me pretty happy!

Hoping the coupon works again next week so I can pick up The Office S:3 with the exclusive @ Target, but not counting on it since the bar code didn't even scan in. Getting a cashier to make that sort of effort seems like it's rarely if ever going to happen again.

What size did you make the coupon? The version i've seen is pretty big.

It was big, about the size of half to 3/4 of a page. Looks like some of it was cut off, but it worked nonetheless. I want to figure out a better way to print it for next week.

Where was this coupon printed originally? Is there a better scan. I can't even get it to fit on one page.

Thanks so much for the coupon. I used the original link and it printed up the normal width of the paper. I wanted the Paley panel disc, but didn't know if I wanted to pay that much for the "exclusive". This made it an easy decision and it will next week with The Office also. To any wondering about this, I also had no trouble using it at the store. Anyone planning on picking this up in Burbank, CA might want to hurry down. I was there at 8:05 and there were only 5 on the shelf (I know 3 sold while I was there including mine). They probably have a few more to restock the shelf, but who knows how many.

How many episodes are there, and was this an hour show? I saw one or two episodes last year and liked it and I remember thinking "I'll catch this on DVD".

And the $36.99 at Wal-Mart with the bonus disk sounds great to me. My plan would be to watch it then sell it on ebay for $30 or so which is what I did with LOST Season 1 and Desperate Housewives Season 1.

Has anyone looked at the inside of the normal retail box to see what the differences are between that and the Target edition?

Also, Borders has an exclusive sticker with the Heroes set.

Thanks for the coupon, it did work. I chose (I think) 4x9 option when printing as I thought half a page would be too big (though as early as it was, I doubt the cashier could care less).

To answer my own question, it appears to be at Amazon.com. $66.45 after 5% off coupon "tvguide5."

Yeah I believe they had a whole box full of them when they were first putting them out. I'm pretty sure the Bionic Woman thing is just something to wet your whistle enough to want to tune in to watch the pilot episode which won't air until this fall sometime.

the main differences I can see are:


Regular Set: No extra flap, 7 Discs, cast picture as inside box cover (from seeing the commercial for the regular DVD set)

Target Set: Special Eclipse Cutout Slipcover, 4 Mini-Paintings, Extra Flap holding the mini-paintings and the Disc 8 info listed, 8 Discs (bonus disc with Paley Festival interview and character profiles for Claire, Niki, Peter, Hiro, and Mohinder), spine of the set has HEROES shown the way it is on the front cover (vertically), and the inside box cover of this set is shown in more pictures below

also by looking at the pictures of the regular set on the Heroes site the artwork behind the discs seems to be different between the sets too

other than Discs 1-7 it is safe to say that the Target Set is completely different than the regular set...easily worth the $8 difference in price

Had to go to 2 Targets, but I got my exclusive. They took my $5 off coupon too. I love the case.

Coupon worked fine for me at my local Target.

I resized it in Photoshop to about 3.75" wide and printed it on a nice laser printer.

The lady couldn't swipe/scan it but it worked fine when she used the scanner gun. I would guess that most people after swiping it and it not working are going to look at it closer, so YMMV.

There was only one set left after I picked up mine too, so anyone who hasn't picked this up yet, you better hurry out to your local store.

The coupon worked fine for me, too. I paid for mine in the electronics department rather than the front register, so the clerk used a scanning gun by default. Judging by the display space, it appears my local Target initially set out about equal amounts of both sets. But, it definitely looked like more deluxe editions were sold than regular sets. My local Target was the same. Two facings of each on the top shelf. Regualr was still full, I grabbed the last exclusive one.

No time to go to Target today, and I didn't print the coupon yet. I hope they have some left by the time I get a chance to go tonight...

The L.A. store on La Cienega near Rodeo had a good 8 left on the shelf. The coupon also worked but the clerk did ask where I got it from. I told her online and she made no additional stink.

I'd like to get a regular coupon size. This full sheet printout looks ridiculous and I can see them second guessing and ultimately rejecting it.

That Target box looks pretty sweet.

I wish the HD-DVD set had an extra flap to hold the booklet.

The picture looked big online, but printed out normal size for me.

If that is not the case for you, don't you have any sort of basic photo editing software to just shrink it down.

I saved the picture to my computer, then opened it with regular old Paint, and it printed out the perfect size.

Picked the last one up at Burbank Target at around 8:20 or so (unless they had stock in the back, they had open boxes all over the place and no more exclusives).

Bought it for a friend as a gift since I have the HD-dvd version on the way from Amazon, but the pictures above, and the dubious quality of the video on the HD version, tempt me to keep this for myself...
