Incredible prices on the LOTR EE editions.

I am pretty confident that the LOTR sets are NOT the four disc set special editions. I was in walmart today and they have the three sets of movies in extended edition packaging that looks almost identical to the 4-disc set packaging (does not have any picture on the front like the previously released 2-disc extended edtions). It said extended edition, and these were 2-disc sets and they had them for 14.99 each....

Speedy, what does the fine print for the 20$ giftcard for strikers charged say? Is it like mario party where it says in the fine print until close....or have they fixed that 'price mistake'

What region is the copy of the ad that you release every week? I'm wondering since some of the prices you mention w/o rebate have rebates on the edition that is released in SoCal. Thanks.

If I am right (and that is a big IF...), you are going to have a hell of a hard time pricematching for the four disc sets, if everybody is advertising the new 2-disc sets in their ad (BB, CC). They are going to know that the advertised sets are the new 2-disc, not the 4-disc (unless you can clearly see the 4-disc wording in the ad picture).

I have NEVER questioned speedy before (and he knows that), but it seems to hard to believe that CC and BB would have these on sale so cheap, the same time I see a never before seen set of 2-disc LOTR discs that look identical to the 4-disc sets in WallyWorld.

Understandable. But Best Buy's is 12.99 I think, not THAT great of a deal, but it may be the 4-disc. Even if BB's is the 4-disc, CC should pricematch it and beat it by 10%, making it roughly $9.

Again, it's a big 'IF' like you said, but Speedy has the 4-discers, and he says that is what looks to be pictured in the ad. I'll trust him and take the chance.

I'm wondering if New Line has re-issued these sets in slim cases.

I can see the words "Special Extended DVD Edition" at the bottom of each case shown and which can be seen in this picture:

Do the 4-disc sets say '4-disc' on the spine? If they do, it's probably new 2-disc sets we're getting for a bargain, and not the 4-disc ones.

The LE's are on BB.com for 19.99, while the 4-disc ones are 22.99. The ad states save $7 off of 19.99...so it doesn't look good if both stores have these new LE's on sale. Of course, I'm assuming.
