Blockbuster: Buy 2 Get 2 Free - Previously Viewed Discs

Went into my local Blockbuster yesterday and they had a new promotion going on. Buy 2 get 2 free(copying Movie Gallery promo). It works out to approx. $7.50 per dvd if you get the $14.99 dvds; which is not to bad; but the $9.99 dvds breakdown to the same as their regular 4 for $20.

Don't know if this is nationwide or regional.

Have a good day everyone!

Those $14.99 dvds keep changing price on the specials: the best is when they are 3 for $20, which changed to an unappealing 2 for $20 about two weeks ago.

Last time I was there, they actually had a lot very good titles @ $5.99, so if this deal applies you could pick up some interesting stuff for $3 per DVD.

Is this for previously viewed titles only or does it include new titles? Thanks for the heads-up!

Yeah, the same deal is going on here in Orlando as well - although it has been a while since they have put anything newer out on the racks.

I was at a different Blockbuster yesterday and they had this deal going on also. They had ALL newer titles out for $14.99, so I picked up 4 titles. Good deal..

I work for Blockbuster and don't really think this deal is as hot as the previous deals we've had.

For the last few months we've had four for twenty on all $9.99 products, so that the total came to $21.65. To buy the same titles in this sale, the total comes to $27.xx (i forgot the exact amount, sorry.) It's a little bit better of a deal when it comes to $14.99 titles, but still not exactly hot fire.

We had the three for twenty on the $14.99 titles a few weeks ago as mentioned above too, I would be surprised if we didn't offer that sale in some incarnation again soon. For a few months we had the three-for-twenty exclusive to the online customers, I would expect it to revert back to that one sometime in the near future, but I suppose I don't really know.

Also, it usually takes three or four weeks depending on the film, but employees (you may have to get a manger) can turn a rental copy into a previously-viewed copy in a matter of thirty seconds, in case theyre out of something you want. The price point should default to $14.99 assuming its been long enough (theyll be able to tell you the price), unless its Pans Labyrinth which is $17.99 as of this Sunday. Also, most stores put out all their new prp stuff on Sundays, so that would be a good day to go.

Maybe everyone knows this already? I dont know, I just figured Id try and contribute.

Is Pan's (2-Disc) going pre-viewed at BBV anytime soon?

I might have to check out my local BBV this Sunday to see what's new.

How do you come up with that figure??? If all 4 titles are $9.99 each and you buy 2 @$9.99 that comes up to $19.98 (+ state sales tax) and then you get the 2 FREE. If my state charges me $8.xx on $20, it's time to find a new state!!

I'm assuming the $27.xx price is buying one at $14.99 and another at $9.99, then getting one free of each price.

Yeah, the reason it's $17.99 is because it's the two-disc version, my store didn't get any copies of the one disc. Same with the recent release of Ghost Rider, which hasn't yet become available for pre-viewed purchase.

As for the the other question about the total price point, you're right, that was including a $14.99 title, sorry about that, my mistake! Also, you have to buy in increments of four and we have to charge you for the most expensive ones or else the coupon doesn't work. So, if you buy two $14.99 titles and two $9.99 titles, you'll pay the $30 or so and get the cheaper ones for free.

ThaGoddfather, I'll get a list going of $5.99 ones tomorrow night.

Just came from my local blockbuster. Seems like the majority of titles I noticed were $6.99 & $12.99 (the previous posts indicate prices of $5.99, $9.99 & $14.99).

Scored quite well with this one. The Blockbuster up the road from my work had Buy 2 Get 2, but the cashier said they were actually doing B1G1 if you couldn't find 2 because they were trying to clear out as much as possible. And the prices were incredibly low. $7.99 / $6.99 / $4.99

I picked up:

$7.99
The Prestige
Notes on a Scandal
The Queen
Invincible
The Illusionist
Stranger Than Fiction
Man of the Year
Alpha Dog
The Good Shepard
The Holiday

$6.99
School for Scoundrels
The Guardian
Borat
Children of Men
Babel
An Inconvenient Truth
Fast Food Nation
Bobby

$4.99
Gridiron Gang
The Producers
You Me & Dupree
Lucky Number Slevin

They had tons of other pretty recent rental titles as well, The Departed, Over the Hedge, The Lake House, World Trade Center, The Return, Black X-Mas, Snakes on a Plane, Because I Said So, Flyboys, Superman Returns, Pirates 2, etc. at those price points.

so, is it safe to assume, that your blockbuster "up the road from work" is in Oakland, California?

Oakland, those prices are unbelievably low. Everything you listed for $7.99 (and most of the $6.99 titles as well) sells at my store for for $14.99. The majority of price points at my store and surrounding stores in my area (around Dallas, TX) are $5.99, $9.99, and $14.99. I guess I didn't realize how YMMV this stuff is.

I made a quick list of all of our $5.99 titles. This will probably vary from store to store, I know we cleaned out most of $5.99 stuff two weeks ago; I pulled out some 230 dvds to ship back to the distribution center. This is more-or-less what's left.

Anyway, so here's a quick list...

3 Extremes
Battlefield Earth
Being Julia
Dark Water
Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist
Final Cut
History of Violence, A
In the Mix
Island, The
Kissing Jessica Stein
Love Song for Bobby Long, A
Mad Hot Ballroom
My Date with Drew
North Country
Red Eye
Saw II
Skeleton Key, The
Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator
Stuck on You
Supercross
Swimfan
Thing About My Folks, The
Twisted
Vera Drake
War of the Worlds (recent)
We Don't Live Here Anymore
Willard
Yu-Gi-Oh: The Movie

Okay, that doesn't make much sense. If you're getting four $9.99 movies for $20, and you're buying the exact same movies in this sale (which would make them $9.99), then the total would be the same. If you're referring to buying a $14.99 movie and a $9.99 movie in this sale, then that's not a fair comparison, as you stated "to buy the same titles"

Yes, I realized that after the fact. And, if you read on, I apologized for it. I'm sorry, it was a mistake. I was in a bit of a rush and got mixed up.

if anyone finds the Pan's 2-disc at the BBV, definitely post!

I've been wanting this movie since release but $24.99 just seems too much for me. It would be nice to get this movie and two others in some sort of regular BBV sale.

Pan's is definately 14.99 now. We pulled them two weeks ago and the were 21.99. Then they got lowered the following Sunday to 14.99.
