I stopped by earlier this morning, too. The DVDs advertised in the flyer (in today's Chicago Tribune) already reflect 20% discounts. For example, the Planet Earth BBC series is listed as $43.12 in the ad, but that's with the 20% off (you don't get another 20% off). The selection of books is definitely limited. We easily spent just under an hour just browsing through the store/selections.
For store hours, just from a quick glance, I do recall they open everyday at 10 am (except Saturdays, when they open up at 9 am). I'm not too sure about closing times, though.

I just got back from visiting the store. Picked up Being John Malkovich (around $16 with the discount), and also NIN (around $13 after discount).
They also had Black Snake Moan on Blu-ray out early, I was tempted to pick it up, but I'm hoping to get it from Blockbuster Online this week instead.
They had a good selection of HD-DVD and Blu-ray, but it was hardly complete, I would guess that they are missing close to half of the available titles.
The Criterion wall was impressive though, 8 rows high by 40 columns wide worth of titles facing you. The TV-on-DVD selection was huge also. Anime section was weak.

I hope that they DON'T open a store in California though! I want to continue to be able to not have to pay extra for either shipping or sale tax from here! DVDPlanet we get stuck with sales tax on...

I paid the store a quick visit it on my lunch break. It is a solid 20 minutes one way from where I work (Bolingbrook).
Just glanced around a little and it is quite nice to see so many DVDs in one place including a lot of titles you would never see in some of the big box stores.
I was there to pick-up the new Behind The Mask flick which they had not put on the shelves yet. They did grab me a copy and the exclusive that comes with it (I did have to ask them where the exclusive was as it is not packaged together).
While they were doing that, I browsed the rather tiny CD section. I think they might have thought I was a horror geek (which I really am not) and threw in a promo Masters Of Horror T-Shirt for free which was cool of them. Of course they did give me a little weird look when I brought up my Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson CDs (I did also have a Pogue one, a Elvis Costello one, and the Stax 2-CD set). I guess they don't see many people buy that combo.
I was not paying much attention to if the discs in the store matched the online price, but for the Behind The Mask disc it did. I will probably go there once more before the sale ends and pick up some catalogue stuff.

Also, it seems they don't phase new releases into their respective sections right away, so you may have to go to their new release wall for stuff. I was looking for the 2 disc Pan's Labyrinth, and after I could find it in Sci-Fi, Horror or Drama, I asked and was directed to the new release wall.

This was posted on Criterionforum.org I highly doubt this sale will be online as well, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
"So I was just informed today by one of my friends who works for the Deep Discount store in Naperville, IL that beginning July 15th thru July 28th, all Criterions will be Buy 1 Get 1 Free. Problem is he is unaware if this sale will be online as well (the store itself has a hard time moving Criterions so this sale was prompted by upper management)."

Oh man. Awesome news but i'm in two minds now. Is it worthwhile to buy SD Criterions in this sale or wait for their Blu-Ray editions which will start coming out this October?
Also Janus Films is coming out with their own (possibly barebone) editions adding to the dilemma.
