Amazon HD DVD player/Matrix set deal

Looks like Amazon is jumping on board with the HD DVD deals too (much like Circuit City and Best Buy did this week):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...rd_i=193642011

Buy a Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player by June 16, and you can get up to seven free HD DVDs. Here's how this works: You'll receive two free HD DVDs from Amazon.com when you buy the HD-A2 and either The Ultimate Matrix Collection or The Complete Matrix Trilogy. There's also a rebate offer on the HD-A2 that lets you get five more HD DVDs from Toshiba. To top this deal off, the HD-A2 is now at our lowest price ever--less than $300.

Step 1: Add the Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player to your Shopping Cart along with either The Ultimate Matrix Collection or The Complete Matrix Trilogy on HD DVD. Then choose two HD DVDs from the list below and add both items to your cart and proceed to checkout. The price of the two HD DVDs you choose will be deducted from your order at checkout. (Applies only to products sold by Amazon.com. Does not apply to products sold on our site by third-party merchants or through third-party areas such as Amazon.com Marketplace, Auctions, or zShops.)

Step 2: You can also get an additional five free HD DVDs from Toshiba after mail-in rebate. Download and print out the rebate form available on the detail page for the Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player. Choose your five free HD DVDs from the 15 shown on the rebate form and follow the instructions on that form for mailing it to Toshiba after your purchase. Toshiba will send you the five free HD DVDs by mail.

That's a great HD DVD player, the Matrix trilogy, and 7 other HD DVDs for $361 shipped.

Sigh....teach me to be a semi-early adopter. I fully expect prices to drop on tech, but not really this quickly.

That's an awesome deal. I'm sticking with My A1 until I get a new TV but I'm passing this deal onto a few buddies.

Well, I suggest you don't. Just got done watching the Matrix and the feeling was just like watching it on DVD for the first time. It was unreal.

(for those who are thinking about HD for the first time and do not follow the HD forum I will disclose that I have had HD DVD since last summer and BD since Christmas - I enjoy both but slightly prefer HD DVD)

Yeah it looks like a pretty sweet deal. I'm considering it as well. Not sure if I really should, but I want to.

I picked up on the deal at best buy. Got the Toshiba A2 for 299.00 this past sunday (may 20th) but had to wait til tuesday to get the matrix + 2 free hd dvd deal.

And im glad i had to wait, because I ordered the matrix trilogy for 19.99 with the glitch in the price from CC website.

So for 240 or so including tax i got the A2 and matrix trilogy. It looks so damn nice. I was in awe when i popped in an HD DVD. first time every viewing a movie in HD.

Is it worth it to sell my 360 HD-DVD addon and jump in on this deal?

I believe the Xbox 360 will go to 1080p, and the Toshiba will only do 1080i.

I'm going to wait until after the holiday weekend to make sure I still have money for this, but I think I'm going to do this. What a bad ass deal!

I'm thinking prices can only go down in the future. (Still smarting from paying $450 for a basic Toshiba DVD player back in 1997 and now they are practically giving them away.)
