Films of Alejandro Jodorowsky: $30.18 @ DDD

The Films of Alejandro Jodorowsky box set coming out next Tuesday (5/1) is listed for $30.18 at DDD — good price for a 5-disc (?) set.

Anybody come across a better price for it out there?

What are the chances of that price going up after the release date?

Well... certain circles consider them to be masterpieces of the absurd. That said, I can't wait to get my hands on a set and ditch my old bootleg El Topo VHS from Canada.

If you haven't seen Jodorowsky, my best recommendation would be to rent El Topo. If you like El Topo, you've passed the test.

It's 'cause they misspelled it "Jodorwsky."

I've only seen El Topo and The Holy Mountain. They are extremely weird, the acting is mediocre, the message is often obscure, and the lack of a budget shows through. It's strictly experimental cinema. There's no commercial potential.

But they're intelligent, creative, and like nothing else that has been committed to film.

My thoughts exactly - unless there is an "Anchor Bay Midnight Movie Sale" between now and then.

So is this an offbeat answer to my question? Because...

sorry, didnt see your post, i was responding to the other person.

DDD tries to beat the other online stores. after the first week or two when amazon and best buy raise their prices back up so will DDD. and for the past couple years DDD has made sure that they get their prices marked back up before the big 20% sale. just check all the 20% sale threads where people are complaining how everything in their wishlist has gone up in price.

some go back up, some stay the same, hence the statement that maybe it will and maybe it wont, its a gamble.

Well, I suppose it's true that some things rise in price, but I never really noticed many things.

Those of you with a local Fry's Electronics store may want to check it out for the box set.
I found one priced at $9.99 and they honored it, even after discovering they mislabeled the set.
At this price, even if you've never seen a Jodorowsky film it's well worth it.

Depends if it's available or not. They're doing the old "limited edition" thing on us, so it is possible that it's a true limited edition. Granted, for every 100 "limited edition" releases, only one of them turns out to be like the Martinis & Medicine collection and is really limited.

That does happen, but a lot of those go right back down during the sale. I recall the latest CSI season going up, and as soon as we mentioned it to DD's rep on this site, the price (along with a lot of others) went back down again.

another option with much faster shipping than DD...

family video:
$32.02 - $5 off first time coupon + $.99 shipping = $28.01
