New $4.88 Sony/Columbia TriStar Display At Walmart (YMMV)
I was at a Walmart Supercenter in Charlotte, NC Tuesday afternoon and found a new "Spring Sale" display of $4.88 Sony/Columbia TriStar DVDs.
This was a freestanding floor display in front of the electronics department with several levels stacked one on top of the other (and with only the DVDs in the top layer and sides visible - as these Walmart displays usually are). All of the DVDs had "$4.88 PR" stickers on them.
It was an interesting mix of titles (including 2 Superbits!), a few of which had previously been seen at Big Lots stores (for $2.00) and many others which had not.
There were a number of titles from Ken Cline's master list of out-of-print Sony/Columbia TriStar DVDs (which can be found in the Big Lots thread on this forum) and others which were not on that list.
As with all Walmart sales, YMMV. Later in the evening, I went by my neighborhood standard Walmart store and they did not have the display at all, so this deal may just be at the Supercenter stores.
Here are a few of the titles I remember out of the many DVDs in the display:
Leon The Professional (Superbit Edition - with silver outer sleeve)
Starship Troopers (Superbit Edition - with silver outer sleeve)
Men In Black "Limited Edition" (not the current 2-disc special edition, but an out-of-print edition from 2000)
The 6th Day (older edition)
Bad Education (R-rated version)
Candyman
Cyborg 009 - The Battle Begins
The Devil's Backbone (the older 2002 edition, not the 2004 "Special Edition")
Eating Raoul
Enigma (standard edition, not SE)
Full Contact (Chow Yun Fat)
Fun With Dick And Jane (the 1977 George Segal, Jane Fonda version)
Groundhog Day
Hangman's Knot (1952 - Randolph Scott, Donna Reed, Lee Marvin)
Jumanji
Married With Children: The Most Outrageous Episodes! - Volume 1
My Life Without Me
The Professionals (1966 - older edition)
Raising Victor Vargas (Movie-Only Edition)
Resident Evil Apocalypse (single disc version)

"Raising Victor Vargas" and a couple others have been showing up at Big Lots stores for $2. I hope some of the ones you've spotted trickle in there as well.

Wow, I would love to get my hands on:
Leon The Professional (Superbit Edition - with silver outer sleeve)
Starship Troopers (Superbit Edition - with silver outer sleeve)
for those prices. If your store still has them, I could pay you cost + shipping + a little extra for your troubles.

A lot of the stuff in this Walmart display was old, like the 2000 "Limited Edition" of Men In Black that I saw, so it looks like Sony/Columbia TriStar is doing some warehouse cleaning of older versions of their DVDs.

There was an extra copy of Starship Troopers (Superbit) which I sort of hid under the top layer of DVDs.
If I have time tomorrow, I'll try to go back to the store and pick it up for you if it's still there.
If anyone is familiar with this type of stackable Walmart display, you'll know that all you can really see is the top layer and the sides, while there are tons of other DVDs buried under each layer in the center of the display. It's really a stupid way to display DVDs.
I'll see if I can get my brother to go along with me tomorrow and we'll try to lift up the top layer of DVDs (very heavy) and see if there are any other copies of Leon The Professional or other Superbits lurking underneath.
I'm really surprised that a Charlotte-area Walmart got this display ahead of other parts of the country.
Usually, we're a week or two behind the rest of the country to see any of these sales - that is if we're lucky (I remember sales like the Tartan Halloween sale which never showed up at any of our stores at all).

I was at my local walmart and they also have a very old version of dr. stranglove and stripes. They only had one of each of the superbit titles listed above. I will have to go back sometime over the weekend and see if the lower layers have more copies or different titles.

THE CRAFT
DOGTOWN AND Z BOYS (old version)
THE MASK OF ZORRO (old version)
NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE (the old version)
STAN LEE'S MUTANTS, MONSTERS AND MARVELS
WINGED MIGRATION

My local wal-mart had Men In Black (DTS) edition, Men In Black Limited Edition (Black Case) and Starship Troopers Superbit Edition. I picked up the MIB LE and Starship Superbit.

Well I checked one SuperCenter (Shakopee) and one regular Walmart (Eden Prairie) without success. Congratulations to those who are finding this display.

I found this display this evening and picked up the MiB LE, Starship Troopers (Superbit), and Leon (Superbit) also. There was one more copy of ST but the MiB/Leon I only seen the one.

Isn't the 2 disc Leon superbit?
(I think you've already answered that, but that was my question all the same)
