That is a great price for Brick. I bought it for $11 awhile back and I thought that was a great deal. I'm trying to refrain from buying the Big Lebowski and SNL Best of Alec Baldwin.

Brazil for $6.28?
Sure. It's Universal's barebones edition and not the Criterion.

Copied from DDD. Says to make your orders before 7:00pm cst. I wonder if the sale will end then? Last time to buy DDD. I gues now it will be DD.

Thanks for the update. I just ordered Brick and Shaun of the Dead at the last minute. I probably would have waited a little bit, but since the site is converting and there is no end date listed for the sale, I decided to order asap.

fitzcain 02-07-07 07:03 PM

Hey everyone, it says on their site, lower left corner of the add for 5.99 titles, ends 2/28/07...........just an fyi. I am going to wait til the new site is up and running just so it doesnt get lost in the shuffle.

The No Man 02-07-07 07:09 PM

the 2/28/07 date is for the $5.99 ddd sale, not the universal $6.28 sale

Cane Dewey 02-07-07 07:12 PM

I ordered Brick just to make sure that I get the sale price. It's been over $20 for some time.

FeelingGreat 02-07-07 07:13 PM

what is this movie "Brick"? Is it good?

Anyone with anymore recommendations for which titles to get?

I ordered Brick but haven't seen it yet. I ordered it based on the awesome looking trailer and good reviews it received. One of my friends loves it too. I also like that actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt who was in 3rd rock. For 6.28 I couldn't pass it up. Go ahead and get one for yourself.

Did you happen to catch a date for the $6.28 sale?

Brick is a film noir set in a modern day high school surrounding. I enjoyed it, but some will dislike it for its convoluted and over-the-top dialogue, reminiscent of old noir flicks. Others have loved the film for that very reason. I had to watch it with subtitles the first time to make sense of what the hell was going on. For $6.XX it’s worth a buy I think.

DX 4 Life 02-07-07 07:42 PM

Picked up "They Live" and "Legend"...always forget to look for these when I shop, thank goodness I did =)

I will have to get the Alec Baldwin SNL DVD, just to have the "Schwetty Balls" sketch, if nothing else.

mikeporter 02-12-07 07:59 PM

I picked up:
ANDROMEDA STRAIN $ 6.28
FAHRENHEIT 451 $ 6.28
SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE $ 6.28
WIZARD $ 6.28

Picked up "Brick" and "They Live," both are blind buys for me

GorillaX 02-12-07 11:35 PM

thanks, ordered Brazil, did this get reprinted or something? always wanted to watch it but could never find it, know about the Criterion version but heard its not anamorphic so no point paying that much for it

Anna Karina 02-13-07 12:25 AM

I ordered stuff from this sale last week and it shipped on Thursday but I haven't gotten a bill yet and it's not showing up on the new deepdiscount site as one of my orders.

Think there's any chance they won't bill me? Because that would be awesome and I'm gonna pretend that happened until I check my bank account in a few days and it shows up.

Being John Malkovich
The Ghost Breakers (just about the best Bob Hope film)
Black Angel (another Cornell Woolrich a.k.a William Irish story i.e. The Bride Wore Black)
Melvin And Howard
Touch Of Evil (truly one film touched by genius: one of the darkest Noirs ever)

DDD's new website makes it DAMNED hard to go thru the items in this Universal sale.

(I'm getting SICK of scrawling down a page before getting to only about 10 titles at a time - AND worse - trying to work out which are FOOLS SCREEN and Widescreen)

There must be a better way of presenting DVDs on this website ????

jericho88 02-13-07 09:52 AM

Anyone know if DVD Planet is going to match this sale (or the other one)?

You ordered an old, non-anamorphic Universal copy. Criterion originally released a non-anamorphic version, too, but they remastered it last year and I have to say, the new 16x9 transfer is stunning. It also has Gilliam's commentary. Check this review: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=23496

I was about to post the same complaint... I really don't have the patience to browse this way. I can't find a link on their site to a complete list of titles, so I guess it's their loss of my business.

I just got my order in the mail which included The Flintstone CE. This title has been OOP for a long time, how is it that Deep Discount all of a sudden comes up with a shipment of brand new copies?
