Is this blind buy worthy?

I enjoyed Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Akria, Bleach, Ghost in the Shell, and Love Hina....Would I enjoy "Texhnolyze"

Of those you listed, Akira and GitS the movie are closest in tone to Texhnolyze, but it is even darker than those. I liked it a lot for the well-crafted style, but it does not portray a happy life, or even world for that matter.

It's only worth a bundle if nobody else buys it, and I hate to tell you, but lots of people read DVDTalk.

I have seen the whole series already and I throughly enjoyed it, however I don't own any of the DVDs. FYI, this series has 50 episodes and Bandai will be releasing a total of 12 volumes! Here is a review from AOD by Chris Beveridge of volume 5.
Packaging:
The covers for this series continue to not have any real theme to them which isn't a bad thing. This installment is really good looking, particularly for LFO fans, as it has one set against a beautiful dark blue sky with a few strands of clouds around it. The back cover is designed with an attractive shot of the sea blending into the sky and it has a good summary of the premise and lists all the discs episodes, features and extras clearly. The bottom portion is filled out with the typical things such as the staff and the basic bit of technical information. No insert is included with this release.

The special edition release of this is decent but you almost feel that they could do it cheaper and better. It's got a box with it but it isn't meant to be an art box to hold the first half of the show but rather just the extra items inside. The green foil style box is similar in design to what the My-Hime box was so it's not a chipboard type but a bit softer and can be unfolded. While the spine has the series logo going down, one panel has a full color shot of Renton and Eureka on top of the Nirvash while the other has the pair in action with their LFOs. The box acts as a slipcover of sorts and a section slides all the way out which holds the disc, the third volume of the manga and the grey shirt which has some show specific symbol artwork on it in white lines. The box and its design overall looks good and unlike the previous one it wasn't anywhere near as tight, making it very easy to get everything out.

I just got back from my local FYE. Here's the story-they didn't have the Texhnolyze set, so I cannot vouch if it will ring up at $49.99 in-store. The Mahoromatic thinpak scanned at full list price of $99.99. I did get all 4 volumes of DearS for $24.98 plus tax, so all was not lost. It's my feeling that anything that's listed at half price on www.fye.com will ring up that way as well in-store. I'm going to try one last location in hopes of finding either Trigun or Texhnolyze(I already own both series, but the price is so good that it will make a nice birthday gift for my brother).

Does the set contain the Lenticular covers that come with the individual DVD releases?
Thanks

Yes. It actually comes with more lenticular covers than there are actual discs, if I recall correctly. I remember making a remark about it, and SBJ set me straight. Aren't there 9 or something?

Alright ladies and gents, sorry for the late update, just got home from work.

I got a really nice score at Suncoast today. But first the price updates: Texhnolyze is $49.99; The Last Exile Thinpak is $49.99; The Last Exile Full boxset w/ figure & mousepad is $49.99. The Mahromatic singles at my store were marked $9.99 each before the B1G1. Dears were $12.49 each before the B1G1.

I snagged Texhnolyze, Last Exile Box w/ Figure/Mousepad, Dears 1-4, Ergo Proxy V2 & Disgaea V1.

I figured since i was already spending almost $100 i might as well buy the backstage pass, so the grand total after tax ending up being around $120. I also put in an order for the Trigun LTD set. I had the lady confirm that when it comes in (which she said should only take a week and a half max if it isnt backordered), all i have to do is ask them to "cancel" the special order, then buy the Trigun set and ill get another equal/lesser value dvd free.

All in all a good day, i was suprised to see they ALREADY had the new Heat Guy J boxes (they are two seperate boxes packaged together, same discs as the original release i'd imagine). However i'm guessing Geneon gave the wrong SRP because Suncoast had a tag of $130 on it (Geneon & most other sites said the SRP would be $59.98). I unfortunately forgot to check the price (I'm hoping its more than 50% off, since most of the other boxsets are on sale.) I'll have to check that one another time.

That is a nice haul!

On a side note, I have noticed something bizarre on the packaging of Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, Vol.1. The 1st line of print on the top security label says Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, Vol.1, but the 2nd line says FullMetal Alchemist! I have noticed this on every single volumes that I have seen at Best Buy and Suncoast.

Thanks for the heads-up. So I can get all 6 volumes, sans the Summer Special disc, for $29.97 plus tax.

I was wondering about this new Heat Guy J boxset. So it is actually the same one that two silver art boxes that they shrinked wrapped that was released before?

I cant remember exactly (i believe Heat Guy J had quite a few different type of artboxes release). But from up on the shelf it looked like it was 2 boxes of 4 & 4. Didnt get the chance to take it down and look at it.
