I have a few hundred $ in Sam Goody gift cards.

These old cards are no longer good in the stores, now that they have been bought by TWEC the older cards no longer work.

There is still money on my cards per the balance check 800 number.

I imagine my only use of these cards is online.

Sam Goody is not included in the vendors at dvdpricesearch or pricegrabber apparently.

Anyone know of way to see what may be worth buying at samgoody.com? Most of their prices are full retail, but I'm hoping to find a few good bargains and use these giftcards before they are no longer usable.

I seriously doubt that they wouldn't let you use or convert your existing cards. When one company buys another, they assume it's debt - they can't just say "sorrrrry".

You can still use your gift cards at any TWEC store. I had an old one, and they were able to take it. I asked them first, and they told me it would be no problem, so I don't see why you should have any.

I've used one version of the older giftcards, but another won't work easily apparently. I tried, and they showed me how the old cards won't even be recognized when swiped.

But you all are right, I'm sure I can push and make them take them somehow. Find a day with an experienced manager and not the highschool trainee.
