Did pretty well today on box sets:
(prices reflect 10% GS MORE discount) From the Earth to the Moon 26.99 Saturday Night Live Season 1 22.49 24 Season 5 FREE Super Mario Bros Movie 2.73 Denis Leary - The Complete Denis Leary 2.73 Gigli FREE (Store #2) Family Guy Vol 4 22.49 The OC Season 3 22.49 (finally started my christmas shopping) Seinfeld Season 6 FREE James Bond Ultimate Collection V1 22.49 James Bond Ultimate Collection V2 22.49 Sopranos Season 6 Part 1 FREE (the sticker [both] said season 1, so was marked 24.99 instead of 34.99 like the other copy, I did not point this out to the person ringing me up) Requiem for a dream 2.73 Manhunter 2.73 Monsters Ball FREE |
How do people find used copies of the latest James Bond Ultimate sets which have only been out a week for half price? They have to be new ones sold as used... they are too new to show any wear. The people who trade those in must get them through (shall we say) not-so-good means.
If this is an in-store deal, why is there a code? Do you have to tell the cashier to use the B2G1F code because it's not an automatic deal? |

Probably spend more on gas than to recoup your 4 bucks.

as for the sets, i dont know how all you people find that good stuff. i've been holding out to find 3 sets there on a buy 2 get 1 deal, and i have only ever SEEN 1 of the sets (Rome) and its marked higher than any other set out there. I still don't want to pay the $50 they want for it. i've never seen the Wire season 3 or Carnivale season 2 in a GS / EB. someday.... its the only way i can afford HBO sets! |

The computer/cash register now automatically figures out and stacks the B2G1F with the 3-for $XX.XX pricing. No more arguing with the employee that doesn't know how to read the company e-mail. |
Our box set thieves have dried up. I know that a couple stores have a long list of names that they won't buy from anymore, which really sucks. But even the stores in the next district don't have anything major.
So far I've pulled the following $12.99 titles, all $18.47 per group after discount and taxes. So that averages out to $6.18 per title. Pirates of the Caribbean Pirates of the Carribbean 2 DaVinci Code (2-disc version) RV Scarface (2-disc platinum edition) Ice Age 2 Narnia (2-disc version) Over the Hedge Toy Story 2 I'd really like to check the stores south of here, but I can't justify taking that much time out of my day to be on the road for 2-3 hours just to find out that they don't have anything. |

I think I should have gotten all 3 for $6.66 no, you should have gotten them for $2.73 each with the gamestop/eb discount card & then the cmp should have taken one off (free)for the sale. so you should have only payed $2.73 + tax for two of the three dvds with the discount. |
Ahhh, thanks for the clarification guys. Ill be driving around looking to see what I find so it would hardly be a waste of gas as I'll be looking around anyway.
Im guessing to get my dough I can just take the receipt. As far as sets, alot of stuff I see is either banged up or priced really high. Lost and Greys are about $40 I think. Prices around here are pretty damn stupid. |

Not sure how you figured this out but for me, the $5.99 dvds comes out to $2.22 each before tax and without any using any discount card... |
Got:
The Birds Psycho - original Sneakers Broken Arrow Spartan Aguirre ...and the bad news, they couldn't find the actual dvds for "Fire & Ice" and "Night at the Roxbury" and, "Brazil" which was marked $5.99... BTW: one of the local GS has Grey's Anatomy S1 and S2 for $19.99 each... |
My GameStop and EB Games usually have crap and DVD's that look like a pickup Truck ran over them a couple of times.
|
Just got back from the one by my office. Merry Christmas to me!!
CSI: Miami S3 - $24.99 CSI: Miami S4 - $24.99 CSI: NY S2 - FREE Alice in Wonderland (Masterpiece Edition - 2-disc) - $12.99 Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back (LE - 2-disc) - $12.99 Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (LE - 2-disc) - FREE After all applicable discounts, it came out to $62.xx! There's a GameStop closer to home I'll be hitting tomorrow, just for the sake of it... :p |

might be a ymmv..either way if thats how they are ringing up for you then I salute you...lol nice score today. Rocky Horror Picture Show, The - 25th Anniversary Edition (1975) OUT OF PRINT Jungle Book, The - Limited Issue (1967) OUT OF PRINT Bewitched - The Complete 3rd Season (1966-1967) total $18.64 |
$5.99 usually 3 for $10 = $3.33 each dvd
B2G1 then = 2 times $3.33 = $6.66 and get 1 free $6.66 divided by 3 = $2.22 each dvd |
Also, the Discount card takes 10% off of the PRE-discounted price.. in other words, it takes $0.60 off each $5.99 DVD. Also, sales tax is calculated on the POST-discounted price.
If you have the discount card (I highly recommend getting it), here's how the math works out: $5.99 DVDs are 3 for $10, which is $3.33 each, so B2G1 would be $6.66, minus $1.20 using the discount card (2 x $0.60) equals <b>$5.46</b> ($1.82 per DVD). $9.99 DVDs are 3 for $20, which is $6.66 each, so B2G1 would be $13.32, minus $2.00 using the discount card (2 x $1.00) equals <b>$11.32</b> ($3.77 per DVD). $12.99 DVDs are 3 for $30, which is $10.00 each, so B2G1 would be $20.00, minus $2.60 using the discount card (2 x $1.30) equals <b>$17.40</b> ($5.80 per DVD). Note this wasn't always the case! They recently fixed their computer system to take these discounts automatically.. no more arguing with employees over the stackability of the deals. They DO stack. Also, if you buy in multiples of 3, the computer will recognize that you're buying 3 DVDs at each price point. For example, if you have 3 $9.99 DVDs and 3 $5.99 DVDs, you will get one of each free, instead of two $5.99 for free. No more ringing them up as seperate transactions. Whoever reprogrammed their computers is my savior. |
I'm glad they reprogrammed their computers, before, I found out that you couldn't stack the deals, but if they allow it now I'm hitting up the stores tonight!!
|
I went to Gamestop today and looked through their DVDs. They didn't have anything that exciting, but there were a few I would've liked to get. I asked if the 3 for $10, 3 for $20, etc. DVD deals could be combined with the B2G1F and the manager said no... it's one deal or the other because they do not combine, so I didn't buy anything. It's nice to see that other people could combine the deals but I couldn't.

Sadly, the GS by my house had an extensive, yet crappy, selection... there were two boxsets I wouldn't have minded getting, but I simply could not find a third item I wanted, so I passed. Saved myself $50. |
Is it confirmed that all the Gamestops have reprogrammed their computers to automatically stack the B2G1F discount along with their normal promo (3 for $10, 3 for $20, etc.)?
The reason I ask is that there are 3 local Gamestops I regularly visit to browse their selection of used DVDs. Out of the 3, only 1 honors both discounts when they run the B2G1F while the other 2 have continuously rejected my queries (even when I've asked several times to check their emails from corporate, showing receipts of how the other store honored the discount, etc.). Well, I'm definitely "gunshy" to ask those employees again, so I will not go to those stores during these promos unless it's a corporate wide practice that all stores will now honor (obviously I will be there at the next sale since this one is now over) :) Thanks for your help! |

Again, this is <b>confirmed</b>. I have visited literally over a dozen Gamestops and EB Games from Northern to Central Virginia since Sunday and have received the stacked discounts at each one* I purchased movies at. Don't ask the employees - they are not informed. Most seems surprised at how cheap the DVDs ring up - they probably don't know about the recent change. Just have them ring it up. It WILL stack. (well not anymore because the sale is over.. wait until next time).
<i>* - At only 1 EB Games did the 3 for $30 deal not stack. I overhead an employee say that the $12.99 DVDs don't get all discounts applied because they are generally the new releases. This doesn't really make any sense, but whatever. However, you could make a case that since the $9.99 DVDs have both 3 for $20 and B2G1 free, that the 3 for $30 should behave in the same manner. Bring both up to the register to prove your point.</i> I should point out that I have not had any trouble at all getting these deals to stack - it ALWAYS* did it automatically and I never had to have an employee manually change the price of anything. Perhaps this is a regional thing that they haven't fully applied to all stores nationwide.. but I can confirm it works in Virginia stores. |
