Sorry for taking forever to respond!! (-_-) As far as I know the thin packs and fat packs are the same except of course the thin packs do take up less space but I can't really tell you whats in the thin packs since i don't own any. I'm just anal and don't want to risk my sanity by mixing fat and thin....not that there's anything wrong with that

The discs are exactly the same, simply repackaged to take up less space.

.... so what about the packaging itself, fat packs VS slim? Can anybody report on that? Is the artwork the same on both? Does one have more photos/artwork/copy/etc. than the other?

Yes, it's slimpacks. 3 of 'em, holding 2 discs each (except for season 1, of course).

I ordered buffy s3-7.
all seasons, except s3-s4 -are back ordered. good deal. also picked up dead like me S2, for free. this completes my buffy dvd collection,that i first started in 2001.and i bought dead like me when first was released years ago. wonder if i'll get them before christmas with free shipping. not that it cares, because there for me anyways, sorta like presents to myself!!!

The new "thin" sets contain six DVDs stored in three slimline double keepcases. The artwork on the slimlines is the same on all three, which is the same artwork that appears on the front cover of the slipcase.

The older "fat" cases contain six DVDs stored in a seven-paneled "fold-out" that contains artwork not seen in the newer slim set. The extra art consists mostly of promotional pictures overlaid with quotes from the show. This also comes with booklet that lists the episodes on each disc. (Not sure if the booklet also comes with the slim set.)

The discs themselves, as well as the disc art, are identical across all iterations (slim, fat, and chosen deluxe box) as far as I know.

Probably won't make you feel any better (unless misery loves company), but a bunch of us placed orders for J & R's Pre-Thanksgiving sale on Nov. 17. Orders were supposed to ship Nov. 24, but most of them are "still processing". Plus, they haven't responded to emails. For my money, DDD is a lot more user-friendly. Anyway, hope you get your order shipped soon.

The Stargate sets I got from DVD Planet are the slim sets, I highly doubt that they are different at deepdiscount.
