You don't think raising prices and having a software glitch is a reason to get the authorities involved? Okay, how about MURDER?!? I'm talking about the assasination of a United States President! I have evidence that Deep Discount DVD shot Kennedy! Look at when the sale ends, 11/18. Take the number of coupon codes in the first post of this thread (13), divide it by the number of letter in the e-tailer's initials (3) and round. You get four. Add that to 11/18 and what do you get??? 11/22 the day Kennedy was shot! Also look at the code list...all of them make sense except for one "JIM". Could that be refering to Jim Marrs who wrote "Crossfire:The Plot that Killed Kennedy"??? Or possibly Jim Towner an amature photographer who was watching the parade when the preisdent was shot. (BTW, Jim Towner is now DEAD! Coincidence? I don't think so.) There's a lot more. If you look closely, you'll discover the DDD was on the grassy knoll!

</sarcasm>

I swear, some people are just looking for a reason to critisize Deep Discount. Let's get real people.

Okay, on topic, here's my first order:

HERCULES-1ST SEASON $ 9.59 (gift)
WORLD AT WAR SET (CE), THE $ 47.97
DR WHO-WEB PLANET $ 14.98
DR WHO-INFERNO $ 20.98
DR WHO-HAND OF FEAR $ 14.36
DR WHO-MARK OF RANI $ 14.68
ARK II-COMPLETE SERIES $ 13.05
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA-COMPLE $ 34.84

Merchandise Total: $ 170.45

More to follow...

I've ordered from DDD for years also, because their cheap prices, but they are one of the sloppiest of online retailers. I've ordered from Amazon & Overstock just as much, but have had no major problems from them. The same cannot be said for DDD. Maybe the reason they come in for more than their share of criticism is they make more than their share of mistakes?

I'm not saying they did this on purpose, but that doesn't make it right and it doesn't make it legal. A company with good business sense would acknowledge the mistake & IMMEDIATELY fix it, not pass it on to the innocent customer.

I have already spent $700 from them this year & planned to spend at least $160 more. I've spent similar amounts for the last several years, but I am seriously considering never ordering from them again. I will be contacting my credit card company about this, let’s see how funny they think it is.

Then a got another email that showed them as quantity 1 and that I was being charged for them ($70 btw). When I called them I got zero help.

Eventually this will be made better, but the fact remains I have been charged for something I did not buy – isn’t that the definition of credit card fraud? Not to mention the hassle of sending back the miss-sent DVDs. They have screwed up before, but this makes me furious. This is their mistake, so why is all the burden being placed on me?
If you hit remove and its still there, you still have to hit update cart and it goes away. That is called "user error" not credit card fraud.

Uh, it's neither actually... I had the problem happen to me, and the DDD customer service rep admitted that this was a bug in their shopping cart... so NOT "user error", but also not credit card fraud.

Fraud has to be intentional. They would have to intentionaly rig the website to charge people for items they didn't order.

And I've had the opposite experience. I've had two minor problems with DDD over the years, which were fixed right away. Amazon, I had my credit card # stolen, and Overstock was a NIGHTMARE trying to get a replacement for a damaged item.

DeepDiscountDVD is one of the classiest organizations on the web.

That is the way to get rid of it because i've add items in and out of my cart and they disappear that way. And nothing that I have removed appears on the order status or emails.

On the other hand, I've orderered at least five times as much from DDD as Overstock. DDD's never given me trouble, but I had a major problem with Overstock -- I preordered a book a couple weeks in advance, they charged my credit card immediately, and then the item didn't ship until a month after the release date.

But you know what -- the two of us are just data points, not a representative sampling. All we prove is that both companies screw up orders. We don't know if we represent one in a hundred, or one in ten thousand.

To Graftenburg above me:

The Twilight Zone collection you ordered didn't take 20% off because DDD is saying it is a preorder til Tuesday. You could save quite a bit of money if you cancelled it and reordered it Tuesday.

I wouldn't label it "fraud," but yes, your credit card company should protect you if items you did not order are billed to your account.

That said, why bother? I know it must be annoying to people who meticulously prune down their Wishlists to arrive at their Perfect Order within their personal budget -- self-imposed or by necessity -- and it would really, really suck if DDD's mistake puts you over your balance, incurring a fee from your bank/credit card company, but otherwise, just send it back.

I've ordered tons of things during these sales, almost literally. And every order has it's problems. But one thing I can't complain about is DDD's customer service. They are fantastic about returns, and until that changes I'll continue to give them my business.

Here is my first order, going through my dvd's today to see which ones I still need.

DDABD014550D ROSEANNE-5TH SEASON 1 $15.48
DDBVD050196D STICK IT 1 $14.56
DDFXD038305D MASH-MARTINIS & MEDICINE COLLECTION 1 $111.88
DDPRD033400D THE BEAUTICIAN & THE BEAST (WS) 1 $4.82
DDWBD080924D HDD : BATMAN BEGINS 1 $18.26
DDMCA027849D HDD : SERENITY 1 $18.26
DDWBD080926D HDD : CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY 1 $18.26
DDMCA021780D MULHOLLAND DR 1 $7.54

Might pick up the 6 feet under collection on Tuesday.

I'm getting sick of buying single season DVD's when sets like Sex and the City and MASH come out. I tell you no more of that, I'm all ready commited to Roseanne but I'm not buying anymore.

That's how it works now, it wasn't working like that Thursday night. I know, coz I must've tried to have a '0' quantity item removed from my cart for about an hour and it never left.

I can not believe it, I have looked at all the lists so far and I have found nearly nothing to add to my list. Maybe a couple Warner Triple Features is it. I may not buy much at all this year - which will be a first.

This is only the second time I purchased anything from DDD so I have a question:

I bought 10 items last night (or early this morning about 2AM) and got an email with my order number, all of the items but one say "In Process". One of the items say "Back Order" which is fine, the date says it'll be available on 11/22, does this mean my whole order will not be ready to ship until that item is available? Because i'd like to have it that way. I have no problem waiting.

In my experience they ship when dvd's are ready so if something is backordered they ship that after.

Everything but the back order item will ship ASAP. I placed an order Thursday night that had 1 item back-ordered. Everything else has already shipped.
