I picked up the Rock 'n' Roll High School disc and from what I've researched, it appears that possibly the same transfer and audio have been ported from this release, to the New Concorde release, to the Buena Vista release (which claims it's anamorphic but isn't).

Picked up these HBO titles at the Douglasville (GA) Big Lots today for $3 each:
Elephant Angels in America Maria Full of Grace Norma Jean and Marilyn The Comeback The Changeling (with G. C. Scott) Cracker series one For anyone looking for something worthwhile to pick up, I will again recommend Still Crazy (be sure to get the flipper with both WS and FS versions, not the FS only). Think Spinal Tap but played more or less straight, with some funny moments, good faux-1970s rock songs, and a great cast (featuring Stephen Rea, Billy Connolly, Timothy Spall, and especially Bill Nighy). Well worth $3 IMHO. |

I went to the one in Blue Springs MO tonight and believe it or not,though they are still doing a lot of remodelling,they had a bunch of new DVDs;HBO,Sheena,Blankman,etc.I also noticed a Best of Arliss and a Cracker set.

I got extra copies of the following for Trade:
The Comeback Lucky Louie The Best of Arliss I am looking to trade for Angels in America (I am looking for two copies if possible) and The Iron Giant - Special Edition. I know it's been a while on Iron Giant but I heard others found it at Big Lots a while back. I'm not sure if anyone has found Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: Chapter 5 but if anyone has I need to get that to finish off my collection so a definite trade exists there as well. |

Rock N Roll High School I believe is the same during the feature, but the new release has a couple of short featurettes. The original release had a great booklet though, so I would buy it for $3. In fact, when I sold the old version I kept the insert.

I picked up The Comeback (blind buy) and Lucky Louie, as well as Autofocus. I have never seen so many DVD's at my BL before. They had a full 4-sided display, plus an entire display pallet with boxes double stacked. And I looked through every single DVD. Took a while, but I left happy...

I really enjoyed this show... finding it for only 3 bucks was amazing... picked up The Comeback as a blind buy and watched it all over the course of 2 nights, very underated show, too bad HBO cancelled it and LL... they are starting to have as little patience as the networks after being on such a streak for so long with all their big hits |

Earlier in the thread somebody mentioned the Jena Malone movie Confessions of an American Girl. Does anybody know the availibility of this title at Big Lots? I would really like to find this movie and would pay or trade for this movie. Also, is there any chance that other HBO films will find their way into Big Lots?

Hitchhiker Vol. 1 Best of Arliss Mind of the Married Man American Splendor They had the David Spade and Caroline Rhea stand-ups there, but I passed on those. Oh, I also grabbed a pair of Ghost Rider boxers for $2 while I was there. |

Thanks abintra and beebs for the suggestions. I just wanted to help out others by providing a fair exchange of titles they might find difficulty finding at their local Big Lots. Many of the rare titles mentioned show up on the shelves at my local Big Lots. I know how frustrating it can be searching for titles that never show up at your local Big Lots. I'm interested in the widescreen flipper of Sheena if anyone is willing to sell theirs for a reasonable price. I've only been to two local Big Lots to no avail. Also, despite what the case says, I'd prefer it be checked first to make sure it has the WS version on it; i.e., opening it. Thanks!

Sometimes you come up empty, but many times you do find something you are looking for at a great price. I've built my Sopranos sets very slowly used deal at a time this way. I still need 4, 5 and 6 part II, but I will be patient and I will find them cheap at some point. |
