Well, I was about to stop hunting, until Perkinsun Dzees posted new titles I haven't seen. So, I headed out today to stop by the last 3 BL's that I know of. First stop...JACKPOT - Picked up 12 discs. Second stop, nothing. Third stop 6 more. It was a good day

Read My Lips - $2.00

Twin Falls Idaho - $2.00

Manny & Lo - $2.00

Earth vs. The Spider - $2.00

Haiku Tunnel - $2.00

The Mystic Masseur - $2.00

Japanese Story - $2.00

Va Savoir (Who Knows?) - $2.00

The Pact Of Silence - $2.00

Raising Victor Vargas - $2.00

The Gene Krupa Story (Sal Mineo) - $3.00

Subway (Luc Besson) - $2.00. I also saw a cheap version ($1.00) of this same film.

In addition to titles mentioned in the previous posts, I saw these at our Big Lots:

Titles For $2.00 (Hearst Entertainment/Starlight):

Lip Service (aka "Out Of Sync") (2000 - Kari Wuhrer, Gail O'Grady)

The Truth About Jane [2000 - Ellen Muth (From "Dead Like Me"), Stockard Channing]

Titles For $3.00 (Columbia TriStar/Sony):

Divorce American Style (1967 - Dick Van Dyke, Debbie Reynolds)

Fire Down Below (1957 - Robert Mitchum, Jack Lemmon, Rita Hayworth)

The Gene Krupa Story (1959 - Sal Mineo, Susan Oliver, Yvonne Craig)

Hellcats Of The Navy (1957 - Ronald Reagan, Nancy Davis)

The Marrying Kind (1952- Aldo Ray, Judy Holliday)

Music In My Heart (1940 - Tony Martin, Rita Hayworth)

Ruby (1992 - Danny Aiello, Sherilyn Fenn) Anamorphic Widescreen

There's A Girl In My Soup (1970 - Peter Sellers, Goldie Hawn)

For $4.99 (Columbia TriStar):

Mercy - Extended International Version (2000 - Ellen Barkin, Peta Wilson)

Unfortunately, the only copy of Mercy I saw at Big Lots was the single-sided 2004 Full Screen-only reissue.

There had been a previous release in 2000 which had both the US edit and the Extended International Version in Anamorphic Widescreen on a double-sided flipper disc.

This was one of several films such as The Deep, Sheena, and Bite The Bullet, which Columbia reissued in 2004 in Full Screen-only after having previously issued them in widescreen/full screen flipper versions - a practice which never made a lick of sense to me.

NY. Haiku Tunnel & Pact of Silence are 2 that I almost bought, but ended up putting back.
Some of these like Haiku Tunnel, Secret Ballot, & others seem to be on either IFC or Sundance fairly regularly, but I always miss them - partly because my digital cable leaves a lot to be desired.

The available titles on dvd seem to vary at each store. There are not that many on dvd. I went to several of them today and they had different titles. One had George Stevens A Filmmakers Journey on dvd, while the other two didn't. One only had 1st and 10 complete season dvd. I couldn't really find some of the titles mentioned earlier on dvd. I was looking for The Horsemen because I was curious to see it. I did pick up the George Stevens Journey dvd though.

Autolycus, or anyone else, willing to pick up a copy of Lip Service for me? I can pay with PayPal and am willing to look for other titles at my local (3) Big Lots if you have something in mind. Thanks.

Anyone that purchased Pauline & Paulette or Son of the Bride, if you've opened it, or can, can you confirm that they both are anamorphic?

Thank you kindly.

No new titles to post but some encouragement. A week ago visited several Big Lots but only one had a number of titles. Yesterday revisited the closest one on the way back from post office...and found that they had totally restocked. Found 11 titles that weren't at the other stores last week.

The moral is...keep checking back. They do restock and you might get lucky.

I found Iron Monkey 2 from the Tai Seng label and bought it for $5. Then when I got home I noticed that it was the dubbed english version. I totally missed that in the store. Then I noticed there were terrible reviews on it, saying it wasn't even related to the first Iron Monkey (which I liked) and quality was very poor. Luckily, I didn't open and will be returning it.

I was near my Big Lots this morning (northeastern Missouri) and they had just restocked. I saw many of the titles already mentioned here and that weren't out just a couple of days ago.

I think my best find was:
Happy Times (Zhang Yimou) for $2.00

I also picked up:
I Capture the Castle $2.00
The Horsemen $3.00
Going in Style $3.00

Others I remember seeing that I don't think have been mentioned are:
December $2.00
The 5th Musketeer 3.00
and the following were $4.99:
Blade Runner
Frantic
Oh God!
Oh God!, You Devil
A Very Long Engagement
The Imposters

I'm sure there were more but those are what I can remember. Happy hunting.

I wouldn't mind those also. Going in Style is terrific.

And the damage done....

After last weeks Big Lots DVD blitz (and Tower's demise), here's the damage to my wallet for the year. Thanks to the OP for this deal. IMO, this was/is the deal of the year!

It's actually the record/CD (and now some DVDs) show. There's lots of vinyl there. But, since I only collect CD (and DVDs) I call it the "CD show". It's the first Sunday of every month (which means it will be this Sunday 1/7). It's located at the Pasadena City College.

"Mr. Sardonicus" $2

Really crappy selection at the St. Louis Park (Twin Cities) store, as usual.

The Western Hills store in Cincinnati had about eight copies of 1st and Ten for $6, but nothing else of note. A decent selection at the Colerain Avenue store, however, although there wasn't more than a single copy of most films.

I picked up these for $2 each:
- Broken Wings
- Dark Blue World
- The Luhzin Defence
- Raising Victor Vargas

I left behind (for now):
- Adam Had Four Sons
- Angels Over Broadway
- Blade Runner (original release)
- Bon Voyage
- Bonjour Tristesse
- Code
- Dancer, Texas (already own)
- Destination Tokyo
- Divorce American Style
- Eat A Bowl Of Tea
- The Evil That Men Do
- Fingers
- The Gene Krupa Story
- Haiku Tunnel (not a fan)
- Hanky Panky
- Kept
- The Kid Stays In The Picture
- The Late Show
- LOTR: The Two Towers (original release)
- Mambo Italiano
- Manny and Lo
- Me Myself I
- Me Without You
- Me You Them
- Mission Kashmir
- Mr. Sardonicus
- Oh, God! Book II
- Mystic Masseur
- Pact of Silence
- Pauline and Paulette
- Peep Show
- Pirahna II
- Postcards From The Edge
- Read My Lips
- Ruby
- The Sea Is Watching
- Secret Ballot
- The Secret Lives Of Dentists
- Sin City (Mickey Rourke cover, UPC/case damaged)
- Slugger's Wife
- Snake In The Eagle's Shadow
- Solomon And Gaenor
- Son Of The Bride
- Subway
- Tiptoes
- Trixie
- Twin Falls Idaho
- Va Savoir
- Vanya On 42nd Street
- A Very Long Engagement (already own, UPC/case damaged)
- We're No Angels

All of the above are between $2 and $4.99. There was another Rita Hayworth film I can't remember. I'm still looking for Tube, Beijing Bicycle, Le Dernier Combat, and Monsieur Ibrahim.
