Superman is $52.48 at B&N (with the coupon) for non members. Still not bad though
|
sadly i don't have BN discount card :(
|
I posted this in the B&N thread also, in case someone wants to get the card, and then cancel:
What if I join now but decide later that I no longer want to be a Member? Can I get a refund? If you purchased your Membership at a Barnes & Noble bookstore, you may cancel the Membership at any store within 30 days of the purchase date for a full refund with the original receipt. If you purchased your Membership online at www.bn.com, you may contact the Member Service Center at 1-866-238-READ within 30 days of the purchase date for a full refund. |
Nice deal! Thanks for the heads-up!

I went through this link to save an extra 5% ($3.50) on my order. It stacked with the 25% X9Y3G8Y code mentioned above, so it came out to (w/ NY tax) $53.20 shipped. Probably cheaper with the B&N membership, which I don't have.
Where it asked for the 1st 6 numbers of the AAA membership, I put 429097 which are the numbers on the card that go before the actual membership number. Hope this helps someone! :) |
Thanks Nabalab! With all the discounts it came to $45.48 shipped :)
Anyone know what the free shipping day count is? In my confirmation e-mail, I got it for free but it says "expedited shipping" and its 3 business days or less... Certainly beats Amazon and DDD, lol. |

69.98 * 05% off = 66.48 66.48 * 10% off = 59.83 59.83 * 25% off = 44.87 Mine came to 45.48, so paid 61 cents more, did I calculate that correctly? Edit, checked it in my account and it showed saving $7.00 in member savings and then a total of $24.50 in savings, but I can't get it to add up to what I paid... No big deal, it's a damn good price for the set. |
I think they figured mine out this way, as the invoice doesn't give the complete breakdown.
Sorry if this comes off as confusing!! $69.98 - 25% ($17.50) discount is $52.48. Then take the $52.48 and subtract 5% off the initial $69.98 cost, which is $3.50....so the $52.48 - $3.50 is the $48.98. Add NY tax which was $4.22, and that is my $53.20 total. :) All of the discounts seem to come off the initial $69.98, which is a good thing! |
Have tried going through checkout 3 times but cannot find place to enter the 25% off code. Help!!
|
Under payment, there is a box to enter the "coupon code" right under the box where you enter your "membership number". You have to sign in first, I think.
Good luck. |
Good bargain - Thanks Nabalab
Came to 51.43 (including IA tax) shipped after both discounts. |
Great work guys!
For anyone who wants SUPERMAN (HD=DVD) and SUPERMAN II (HD-DVD), DVDPlanet now shows them as being IN STOCK so they're $30 total with the $10 off $30 Google promo. |
Nice deal through bn.com and thanks to the OP. I get a 5% corporate discount through bn.com plus the 25% off coupon. I was just going to buy Superman I & II (Donner cut), but this was a no brainer for this price getting the Ultimate Collector's Edition for about the same price.
|
Yes, excellent deal!
For anyone wondering, you can't use both the AAA Membership 5% discount as well as the Barnes and Noble Membership discount together. Only those not using a Barnes and Noble Membership discount will be able to use the AAA 5% discount. It seems the lowest you can get in this deal with both the 25% off coupon and a Barnes and Noble Membership (10% off) is $45.48. Some will pay a little more depending on whether your state is taxed, my total was $49.23 which includes the 25% off coupon, 10% off from my Barnes and Noble Membership discount plus taxes. I am also very glad that this comes with free 3-day shipping as well. I am getting this set for more than 50% off and I thank all involved for posting this excellent information! |
One problem with this set:
The SUPERMAN III DVD that's included in the Ultimate Edition is apparently the 2001 DVD and NOT the new Special Edition with the deleted scenes, documentary, commentary etc. It's a mistake on Warner's part but everyone who has it (including Bill Hunt at Digital Bits and two different Amazon posters) confirms it. I'm sure people who hate the movie won't care but for everyone else it's going to be a big problem, requiring an exchange/recall or what not. Sigh |
But when you click on the link for product details it shows the new http://images.barnesandnoble.com/ima...0/12030852.jpg
copy ... sigh ... i hope this is corrected if it isn't that copy ... |
Oh man, I hate buying boxsets if there is a screw-up of any kind like this. I may have to wait on this afterall until more details come in. I know it's only 1 disc, but the point is it should be the new SIII disc and not the previous release in this UCE. I hope this is a mix up and wasn't intentional so Warner could make a sleazy $15 bucks from fans.
|
It shows and promises the new DVD allright but that's not what's inside according to a number of people :(
In fact I just cancelled my order... |
One Amazon reviewer states this:
"Sadly, you're not alone in discovering this glitch in the Ultimate Collection. Capedwonder.com stated this, "The Region 1 Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD box set was shipped with the old 2001 Superman III DVD (old menu without all of the new extras), while the Region 1 Christopher Reeve Superman Collection DVD box set contains the new version of Superman III with the deleted scenes, trailer, making of, etc. Bill Hunt of DigitalBits.com found the same error in his Ultimate box." I'm sure WB will eventually offer a replacement disc for the correct version of Superman III but they're usually VERY slow to do so. http://www.amazon.com/gp/discussionb...wasThisHelpful Sounds like it might be wise to stay away from this 1st batch of pressings then... |
This is to bad, not sure if any of the 1st batch of pressings will house the correct disc. It doesn't look so good judging by the word of mouth from viewers who got them ahead of time. How could they mess just 1 disc up? It's really silly. Oh Hal? :)
|
I'm hoping WB does a exchange program for the S3 disc.
|
That sucks I was planning to drop by Best Buy on Tuesday and pick one up after work. Now, I'm curious of all the Ultimate Edition's are plagued with this problem.
|
but the prices are so good now ;( shouldn't we just get them and then worry about the exchange later ??
any advise would be appreciated ? i have had to deal with any exchange programs ...thanks |
I may wait to hear what Warner has to say about this before I pull the trigger on this. We are paying for all new Superman not the 2001 version.
