I used the coupon this evening without incident. Picked up the "Identity Crisis" graphic novel and Terry Pratchett's "Reaper Man".

Thanks to the OP! I went to Borders, and was amazed at how much HIGHER the prices are on DVD's. For example, I was thinking about picking up V For Vendetta: 2-Disc Special Edition, but, the price was $29.99 before the coupon. I could get it for less than that, without a coupon, at other places. I finally decided to go for Full House: The Complete Fourth Season, which is normally priced at $29.99, but, they had it on sale for $24.99, and then I used the $10.00 off coupon, which got me out the door for $16.27 with tax!

When I checked out, the lady asked me for my Border's Rewards card, which I didn't have. She then asked what E-mail address I had used when I signed up. I gave her my E-mail address, and she said it didn't show up. I knew it wouldn't, because I don't have a Border's Reward card. So, she said, "Well, to use this coupon, you have to sign up for the Border's Reward card." She told me it was free, so, I was like, "Great, sign me up". So, after that little kink, it was cool.

Thanks, again, for saving me some money!

That's why I always ask if people have it and if they say no, immediately mention it's free and there's no paperwork.
It's funny how many people go
"No thank...free?"

I mean, I know that that pretty much never happens and all...but still...!
It gives you access to coupons, you can earn stackable 10% bonuses every month and you get 5% of everything you spend back at the end of the year (though I should note that it must be at least $10--which is one place I HAVE legitimately heard our company use the word "threshold"...though I guess that may have just been my GM in training..I forget).

So yeah--anyone picking up these coupons, if you haven't got one, for crying out loud just sign up! you can get $5 straight into that 5% back at the end of the year just for signing up! They don't farm out your e-mail address (and if you just can't stand getting email from them, there's a clear unsubscribe/cancel membership link in the emails).

...yes well, sorry, tangent--but relevant one!

This is not a bogus coupon. This is directly from Borders and it is to bring store trafic during Labor Day weekend.

Gotta get to using this sucker.

A few years back they put a coupon in the newspaper only, no online print outs allowed, for 50 percent off one cd. I picked up 15 papers and went to town.

You CAN use your Return Gift Card.... you just can't use the coupons to purchase gift cards.

Since that'd just be a discount on money, which would be really messed up.

But yes, you can use annnny gift card that work at borders to buy things with the coupon.
...as long as "Things" are not gift cards.
Well, I guess you could hand over the coupon, but it'd be pointless.

This coupon is incredible. I think I'll use it on Double Indemnity and maybe one other movie I've been wanting. Oh and I've always wanted to have a copy of Watchmen.

So can you use the coupon more than once?

In the fine print it says: "One per customer during the valid period."

Since you need a Borders Rewards membership to use the coupon, their computers probably know whether you've used the coupon or not.

You don't need the borders rewards to use this coupon. and they rarely enforce that one time rule.

I printed off and used a ton of those coupons as well. I haven't seen them since.

As a warning, corporate HAS been asking us to be more strict about this, because we've had some more serious abuse than one or two.

At my store we had someone who liked to try and get the same physical copy back over and over. Hence the wording changing over time and now specifically mentioning that it has to be relinquished.

So, y'know, if you absolutely must, at least go easy on the multiple coupons, eh?

I've got 4 (about to be 5) locations within a few miles of my house and office, so I'm not worried about using multiples.

Thanks for the info on the gift card use. I know that usually it says no buying them but for some reason at 1:30 I read that you couldn't use them.
