wirebendr 08-17-06 08:40 PM

That's a great price for NipTuck 2. Too bad I already have it. Still haven't finished Season 1. Probably Romancing the Stone & Jewel of the Nile for me. Thanks for the info!

MonsterMan 08-17-06 09:03 PM

Great prices! I'll be picking up The Sentinel, Romancing the Stone, and Jewl of the Nile.

mifuneral 08-17-06 09:06 PM

Just Arrested Development s3 for me! I was thinking about Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile but then I thought about how much I'd actually rewatch them and figured it wasn't worth it at any price. I've started cutting back on my dvds like that, but especially the movies.

g 08-17-06 09:29 PM

Glad I waited for kiss kiss bang bang as its now priced right.

I figure more than a few people will be upset about that one.....

Sway 08-17-06 09:58 PM

I might finally pick up Shadow of the Colossus, thanks Speedy!

GunsGermsSteel 08-18-06 12:09 AM

Nice price on AD S3. I might pick up the first season of Entourage or CYE as well.

Thanks Speedy!

mrtrance 08-18-06 12:11 AM

Speedy,

What are the Hard Drive deals for the week? Thanks in advance.

so it goes 08-18-06 12:32 AM

Speedy, do you know if the Wicker Man dvd listed for $9.99 is the new release?
It seems weird that it would be advertised at all, and weirder more that it would be with sale/older releases.
Thank you.

PopcornTreeCt 08-18-06 12:37 AM

Ah, finally I can pick up Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I don't think anyone should be upset, aside from Criterions, DVDs nearly always drop in price eventually.

Novasonic 08-18-06 06:54 AM

Thanks, now I can finally pick up March of the Penguins.

Thank you.

It's the new one that's been reviewed here at DVDTalk.

I don't see the new one reviewed here, only the old wood box????

Kocheese99 08-18-06 08:09 AM

Just wanted to clarify, the first and second seasons of the O.C. are $18.99 each? If so that's a great price that i'll be all over. Thanks for the prices.

Snowmaker 08-18-06 09:18 AM

So, no price for The Tick vs. Season 1?

speedy1961 08-18-06 09:36 AM

Sorry.... I saw the giveaway on the Front page and thought it was a review.

It should be the same stuff but repackaged.

That's what the wording leads me to believe.

TheMovieman 08-18-06 10:26 AM

Arrested Development (Season 3) and probably The Sentinel. I guess the retail on Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile are $14.99? If so, I'd imagine those DVDs could go even lower than $9.99 before the end of the year.

yeldarb367 08-18-06 10:46 AM

40 Year Old Virgin and maybe Carlito's Way for me. Thanks

Maybe BB will list it in theirs.

Manzana 08-18-06 11:14 AM

I didn't even know there was a double dip coming on the LOTR EE. I saw Speedy's quick summary of the differences here and in the Target ad which indicate the new material is some featurettes/documentaries, but no changes to the movie except it's presented with seamless branching for the theatrical edition. Well, I don't have the time and energy to research the exact differences in the extras. I guess the important thing is that the movie's presentation hasn't improved. Hearing it's a DVD-18 is a big negative if they use the famed DVD-18 plant in Mexico often used by Universal.

Perhaps when these new EEs get down in the $6 range in about a year, then I'll look up some reviews to see if the extras are worth the price.

You should have picked it up on its release date, bitch-face. :grumble:

Thank you Speedy! I'll head up to get that, been hearing good things about that movie for years.

TheWallsAround 08-18-06 12:21 PM

Looks like I am going to pick up The O.C. season two (and hopefully season one). Thanks for the early ad speedy!

MickeyMousePal 08-18-06 03:56 PM

No Darkwing Duck Volume 1, TaleSpin Volume 1, The Tick vs. Season One and TMNT Volume 1 prices.

Speedy?

Maybe in Best Buy ads.

NO to all queried titles.

Novasonic 08-18-06 06:12 PM

They hardly ever list that kind of stuff in the ads. :(
It makes me sad.

Gutz 08-18-06 06:48 PM

Hmmmm? TNMT vol. 1? Which one is this? The new series or old? Can't wait for Best Buy ad.

MickeyMousePal 08-18-06 06:59 PM

oops..TMNT Volume 5 from the original series sorry Gutz.

mrtrance 08-18-06 11:24 PM

JohnSlider 08-20-06 12:37 PM

If you don't mind making two trips, what I do is go a week early and buy what I want at retail price and then go back when it's on sale and they adjust the price + 10% of the difference. It's not much, but soon it will add up.

Proof from their website:
"If you see a lower advertised price (including our own sale prices) within 30 days of your purchase, we'll refund 110% of the difference."

Just pray that these listings are 100% accurate, because if you go and pay retail, then it does not go on sale, and you've already opened it you'll be screwed.

Yes.... Please pray that I'm accurate and that I have the actual ads in my hand when I post.

Please pray that I can continue to have the time to post these puppies in great detail each and every week.

You make it sound like I get my information from a friend of a friend whose aunt told him two years ago.

I'm not here to dupe people John Slider. I take great pride in what I do here and I stand by my accuracy. Now my spelling is another matter.

In fact, if you want a copy of this ad that I posted, drop me your mailing address and I'll mail it to you. Then you can verify my accuracy.

ericn101 08-20-06 01:20 PM

Holding someone else responsible for your price matching shceme gone wrong, is moronic. BTW - no need to "pray" for accuracy. The ads are always on the money.

JohnSlider 08-20-06 05:21 PM

speedy1961,

I'm truly sorry that I have offended you, if you notice I just joined today and still have fewer than five posts. I'm new to this board and I honestly meant no harm when making my post earlier. I do feel like shit after reading my reply, that statement did come off in the wrong way and I am sorry. Well, I guess I kind of blew my good first impression on this forum, eh? Haha.

The real reason I posted what I did earlier is because not too long ago I took what someone else said in confidence. That was that they had an early copy of a Target ad and said Deadwood seasons 1 & 2 would be on sale for 49.99 the following week. Being as gullible as I am I went and purchased them at an outrageous 79.99 each (I don’t know why I can’t wait for the sale, I just need to have the DVDs as soon as possible). Like I touched on before, I was screwed thanks to one asshole, which he claimed to be a typo, but come on.

Again, I'm sorry I offended you; hopefully you can just look at this and laugh. I was wrong to jump to unfair conclusions and judge you on a previous, immature prank pulled by someone else.

No problem John.

I'm a bit sensitive to these types of statements because of an issue a while back where a deal I posted was rejected by a Target manager and the individuals involved slammed me to the max via e-mail. I unfortunately cannot control the actions of managers of the big 3 stores whose deals I post.

What I do here and at CAG is really a labor of love which most people here and there are grateful for. I'm in a unique position to get the actual ads (and sometimes the ad proofs) early and to relay that info to the masses so that they can maximize their spending dollars.

I also try and find deals within the ads and point them out (whether the deal is on a PC , laptop, media, etc.....) to folks. Many people have thanked me for that as well.

I also answer questions about the ad contents both here and via my home e-mail. It is with extreme pride that I do this and that's why your post kinda irked me.

No harm done.

Welcome to the Forum JS! Feel free to ask any questions about any info I post.
