Ha! I was checking out other forums regarding the overstock coupon deal, and apparently the $50 off coupon WAS actually working for awhile. Crap!

Spotted at big lots:

Overman King Gainer: 2

At last, my big lots has DVDs again! For a while it was nothing but VHS tapes (party like it's 1976).

I don't think I'd ever buy any anime DVDs there, as it's almost always cheaper - and a lot safer - to wait for a thinpack (unless a show only has 3 discs) and it's almost impossible to find them all at once.

Thank you toogood and somebody at SD for saying the $20 coupon worked! The $15 coup order got a shipping confirmation this morning. The $20 one is still 'accepted'. The correct charge is still on my CC, so who knows. Won't cry if it cancels though.

SkyDog, I'll let you handle this part. I'm gonna guess that these are all no longer actual bargains, so I guess just remove them from the table completely when you get a chance. Thanks!

For everyone that scored the Excel Saga set at BB and enjoyed it, I would highly recommend Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi for $25.99 at Rightstuf. If you're into dubs, this show has a very good one with Luci Christian and Jessica Boone in the lead roles(using a southern drawl no less). It also has great opening and ending theme songs, featuring the great Megumi Hayashibara.

It's so weird to see people mention Jessica Boone since we had the same Spanish class together for two semesters. I tried watching a little of Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, but I couldn't get into it myself.

I'm with JBM. I loved Excel, but couldn't stand Abenobashi. Different strokes I guess.

While I'm hear, I'd strongly advise against getting Legend of the Mystical Ninja. It's painfully bad.

I would recommend Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, just don`t take it too serious and I also agree that dub was pretty good.

I cant stand dubs...this one was super annoying because they had fake country (hick) accents because they were supposed to be from the country in japan. Somehow I dont think it is the same thing.

The only dub I've ever survived is cowboy bebop and the ORIGINAL akira dub, everything else gets an immediate switch to japanese with subtitles.

The show was good though.

I'm normally not that picky on English dubs, but I wasn't a fan of how Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi was dubbed. The accents also really got on nerves. The series itself can be enjoyable, but personally I would watch it with Japanese dub with English subs.

I tried ordering Excel Saga at Best Buy, but it says it's backordered. Did anyone else get this backordered message, and is there still a chance I can actually get the set? If anyone can explain how Best Buy works with this backorder stuff, I'd appreciate it,

Thanks,

-B

I had a backordered item, and it shipped in a few days.

Howerver, I'm not sure about Excel Saga though; as the deal has been posted in other forums, and it's more than likely a closeout item. There's a good chance it's gone.

There is still a chance that you can get the Excel Saga set, but it all depends if their distribution center gets a hold of more copies. I would still order it and if it's OOS, they will cancel your order. Below is BestBuy.com's backorder policy:

If an item is on backorder, customers receive an e-mail letting them know an estimated arrival time. They can cancel it at that time or choose to wait for the item. Backorders remain active for 30 days.

If backorder are not filled within 30 days, they automatically cancel. We will e-mail you 5 days before the backorder is scheduled to cancel to ask if you would like to extend the backorder. At that time, you may extend the backorder by contacting Customer Care. Extension periods vary by product. We will not charge your credit card until the item ships.

Backorders benefit from our online price guarantee. If the price drops at the time of shipment, you will automatically pay the lower price.

Thanks for the heads-up, guys. I had ordered this about a month ago, but they messed up my credit card order, then cancelled it, and the emails were going to my junkmail box. Ugh. I hope I don't miss out on this.

Thanks again,

-B
