Can someone please take pics of their monkey heads. I've seen pics on websites but not from collectors.

smackattack 06-24-06 02:16 AM

now if someone could still find a deal on the alien head, my life would be complete.

You've never seen the original POTA or any of its sequels? Wow! I'm in the same boat as you regarding too many unwatched DVD's. And I already own the first POTA box set. Still, this price is damn good. I'll resist for now, but if it is still around tonight, I'll probably bite...

I went ahead and order one as well as signed up for the Bill Me Later. Couldn't hold myself back from getting this. Has anyone used the Bill Me Later?

The Valeyard 06-24-06 12:04 PM

I have. Twice now. No problems thus far. Just make sure you pay it off quick.

Mountain Biker 06-24-06 12:57 PM

Ah fuck it, I'm in. Better to be safe than sorry.

MiamiLoco 06-24-06 01:12 PM

Thanks!! Damn, I wish I had ROOM for that monkey head, LOL!!

Here are a few pictures from some of the guys over at TheImportForums. This is a mixture of both the R1 and R2 sets, but they are exactly the same (other than the number of sets produced) from what I can tell. Maybe this will satisfy most requests for pictures in this thread, as well as convince a few more of you to actually buy it:

There aren't any hidden or obscure fees with this Chase card are there? Thanks!!

Xbox69 06-24-06 04:22 PM

Those using BML, did you add anything else to bring the total to at least $100 to qualify for the No Payments for 90 Days promo?

Ravenous 06-24-06 04:34 PM

Fuck! I couldnt resist. I went and did it. $80 for 14 or 15 DVDs plus its limited (theyre better not be fucking with me about availability) seems like a good/fun investment.

Kocheese99 06-24-06 04:42 PM

Just got my shipping notice, pretty damn fast. Hopefully i'll get it by the middle of week. Funny thing is that i ordered the 1080 Oskar bookshelf on the first day of the DDD sale(06/08/06) and it still hasn't shipped yet even though it projected to ship on the 18th.

When did you order it? And did you pay for shipping or just the free route?

that's because the shelf's all come from the MFR and not from DDD.

BrentLumkin, you forgot to post a picture of the bottom of the base. -wink- If those shots don't convince one to buy the set then nothing will. DDD should give you a commission on the sales for your fine efforts. Sadly, I already bought one when they first came out. :grunt: It never pays to buy right away.

Ordered on the 22nd and i used the free shipping. I just checked on the DDD page and it said it shipped on the 23rd. If i'm really lucky it will get here on Monday if not then by wednesday probably. I live in Wisconsin so it doesn't have to ship very far.

Ravenous 06-25-06 01:40 PM

Hey I was wondering and I know alot of people dont like to discuss this but....

How much did this cost/did you pay when this first came out?

Brent L 06-25-06 01:49 PM

Most people I've talked to gave around $125 for it when it first hit. It's still around $169 on Amazon though, with the second lowest price right now being at DVDPlanet for $129 I believe.

Manzana 06-25-06 02:39 PM

Yet another temptation. I bought the Legacy Collection for about $35 at Amazon when it first came out because the Ultimate Collection was so much more expensive. Also, I doubt I'd ever watch the TV series or animated series even though I have a vague recollection having seen a couple episodes from the TV series and thinking they were decent. Of course liking something as a kid doesn't mean I'd like it now. As cool as the ape head would be, it's just another thing to clutter up my already cluttered shelves. For $46 more than I paid for the Legacy Collection, if I didn't already have it I might go for this even though $46 is still a lot to pay for stuff I'll probably never use just because it's cool looking and because this set will go OOP and probably be worth a lot on eBay. I suppose if I knew for sure it might be a decent investment, but I've never done well on eBay.

BTW, I think someone mentioned how many copies were listed in DDD's inventory a while ago. Where do you find that info on their web page?

Brent L 06-25-06 02:44 PM

The only way that I know how to do that is to put a huge number of the same thing in your shopping cart. If you go over how many they have, it'll say that it's not in stock. It's hard to get it exact, but you can figure out a ballpart figure.

I've got it at 1,399 right now. Just to compare, they have 272 copies of the Equinox Criterion Collection DVD listed and only 32 copies of the big Unsolved Mysteries box set listed.

Ahhhhh...... pipe down! :) You'll love your monkey.

Try this sometime:

I get my bag of laundry and put in front seat of my car.

I get my jacket and put it around my bag of laundry.

I put my monkey head atop the jacketed bag of laundry and vioila~!

Instant monkey person which allows me to drive in the high occupancy lanes of the highway! ;) :D

ernestrp 06-25-06 06:18 PM

I think the head is well worth 81.80 and the Dvd's are a free extra.
